tOSU Baseball Coaching Search - Greg Beals has been named

Hi all,

I usually don't frequent message boards, but I came across this in a google search.

I hope my name is familar to some of you. If not I have the Ohio State baseball blog, the Buckeye Nine, as well as the Ohio collegiate baseball website Buckeye State Baseball. Basically Ohio State baseball, and college baseball is my "thing".

Anyhow I don't want to spend too much time on a lot, but there are a few things that have recently been mentioned that I want to clear up. For other stuff you should check out the Buckeye Nine as I keep up with alumni, program news, the current players, and everything. The last few weeks I've broke news about OSU's 2011 schedule, updated on the players in the summer league, and former Buckeye promotions in the minors. Also I think I can provide insight that you might not normally find.

But the things I want to clear up.

I have a copy of Coach Todd's contract. His base salary was $140K. His gaurenteed salary was $330K. He received $120K from NIKE as the official supplier of athletic wear and equipment, he recieved $70K for his media obligations (Coach Bob Todd Show on 97.1). There are incentives for winning the conference, conference tournament/NCAA regional berth, etc.

I can imagine, without looking it up, Beals has a base of $90k, with everything remaining the same. Every coach gets a healthy chunk from NIKE, and every coach gets money for media, it differs here and there, I believe John Markell was $80K, and $60K. My adobe isn't working to verify the exact numbers above but they're not too far off.

Second, Solomon was not the work of Holick. Solomon signed a NLI back in November to come to Columbus. I have not came across any new recruits for the incoming class that have been Beals and staff's doing yet. Though I do know OF Corey Patrick of VA ws unable to enroll and might go the JUCO route.

Anyhow I'll have a feature on nine incoming players over the next few weeks.

While I have a modest audience, I don't get many commenters on the B9 and would gladly appreciate any comments on anything over there. Unfortunately I rarely have the time to venture off into other sites to take part in their communities.

no, he obviously had nothing to do with that...something much more recent involving Solomon. Not trying to be vague and it's nothing bad..i just prefer not to go into detail :).

Understood. My apologies then.

There have been mentions of another incoming transfer by way of JUCO that had been inaccurate. Just making sure the two weren't erroneously tied together in some form one way or the other.

Sorry again.

chris, it would be great if you could stick around..you would be a HUGE asset to this board. I know youre busy, but please try to drop by from time to time!

been a couple of weeks, but former Buckeye pitcher Josh Newman had been added to the staff as a volunteer assistant. The coaching staff is now complete.

Josh was one of my all time favorite players, so naturally i think he will be the best volunteer assistant ever.
