Game Thread tOSU at Texas, Sat. Sept 12, 7:30 pm ET, ABC

This is the reality of playing top teams so early in the season. Let's hope the staff and players learn and grow from this. Time to focus on Kent State.
If we have to focus on Kent State then something is really wrong with the program. They need to focus on fixing everything that is wrong with the team in the next 5 weeks to beat Indiana, USC and Oregon.

There's something to be about this that I feel most might be too dismissive on.

But a lot of the 2nd half offense had the same M.O. that his Steelers offenses did.
There were several factors that cost the game. Sayin missed some throws that he usually makes, a few key drops. Sayin wasn't as sharp as he had been in the past. That had a little bit of impact on the game, so the little things added up in the end.

But who was calling plays? Looks to me Arthur Smith was. He's simply not that great of an OC. Henry carried him at Tennessee. He's mediocre. That's why I kept saying Muschamp v. Smith. At a point Smith was winning, until Muschamp figured it out and starting sacking Sayin. That combined with conservative calls is what lost us the game. Plus the defense figured out how to stop us: sack Sayin.

We took our foot off the gas and texas got very very lucky with two 4th down conversions, 2 recovered fumbles and a missed field goal all in the 4th quarter. If any of those go our way, we win.

Also, the refs simply had to call holding on texas a few times. The only reason Arch could scramble is because our DEs were being blatantly held.

I can't say that was lucky. That was good play calling from Texas and poor play calling/execution from the Ohio State defense. Ohio State got some luck in the first half including that int that bounced up into the d-backs hands.

Going vanilla in the second half forced the defense to play more.
100% Agree. Our defense was gassed with 6 minutes left and we either don’t have comparable backups to rotate D linemen or we couldn’t figure out how to get them in. Either way, we should have been blitzing more on that last drive and accepting a quick score that would have given our offense 2 minutes and 2 timeouts to get a field goal.
