That 4th down stop had no chance. Pettijohn had the RB bottled up even if they ran it and JMJ made an amazing tackle. Felt like we had so many players show stat turn potential.

Flukey first half TOs by Texas and we failed to capitalize. Game could have been 35-3 but also could have been a tied game going into half. Not going to dogpile on the Ryan Day turtle narrative but it’s really hard not to see.

Julian Sayin is not HIM. He looked shell shocked. Reminded me a bit of McCord, which honestly still should have been enough but missed a few second half throws and reads I thought he should be making by now.

Defense was bound to have growing pains but Sanchez, LBs, middle of the field were all exposed. Also not a fan of dropping linemen into coverage so often.

Offensive genius needs to have the offense humming. Thought above stand but they were put into a really bad situation with the multiple 3 and outs. Also clock management at the end was abysmal. Asking a gassed defense to do goal line stands was awful. Asking too much of the defense seems to be a calling card of this offensive guru which…what? Also also Payton Pierce as spy wasn’t working

All the goals are still ahead of us and if you’d said before the game OSU loses a tight night game in Austin by a point I think we’d all take that. Still the way it happened casts a long shadow on the program and it’s incumbent on them to respond.

Btw I still hate the fact that our backups don’t get a chance to run the actual offense when we’re against outmatched opponents.

I think Sayin played really well in the 1st half. The TD to Smith at the end of the half is not a play a "shell shocked" QB makes.

I really think this one is all on the coaches. They came out in the 2nd half playing with no fire or energy and I truly believe this is because the coaches pretty much declared the game over at halftime and instead of attempting any adjustments pretty much just decided we were going to go through the motions and run the game out with a W. This of course runs off on the players. This is all mostly on Day.

As for "goals still ahead of us" I still think people are underestimating the psychological effect a complete legendary choke job like this can have on a team with a bunch of new players who's still finding it's legs. I'm not sure Day is the guy to get the ship turned mentally around from THIS complete abortion.

Whats crazy is the Buckeyes have lost 3 of their last 4, with the offense looking very poor in the losses.

Sayin has to calm down and must make the routine throws or this year is going to get out of hand fast. He MUST use his check downs.

Obviously not calling for him to be benched, but i believe Fahey would have hit some of those under routes for 1st downs. They must drill it into him on the film room, that the team caption, number 0, is open quite regularly.

Sayin wasn't the issue. Throwing guys with zero game experience isn't remotely the answer and even suggesting it is silly at this point. the dude still threw for nearly 300 yards and clearly tried everything he could in the 4th quarter. Expecting perfection from college football players is also silly, yes he has to get better. On the other side of that coin, the coaches have to put these guys into a position to succeed, and I think the coaching staff did a horrible job doing that, especially in the 2nd half.

Lol oh come on. You really think throwing a true freshmen who's only game time is garbage time against the cellar of the MAC would provide a different result? This is peak fan irrationality

I said I am NOT calling for him to be benched.

What i am saying is he looked the same as he did last year when the competition has similar athletes. I dont know what to tell you, the second half of that game Sayin played horribly. He did have the one great throw to 3, that was miss played, but other than that he struggled.

And I'm saying you're completely wrong. He looked better, he moved within the pocket better.

He missed some throws. Every QB will miss throws occassionally.

Thats fine if thats your take. We can agree to disagree. Its true I get a birds eye view from the comfort of my living room, but its frustrating to see 0 running wide open play after play since last season.

Innis only had 1 catch!!! Hes open constantly.


This team was number 1 most of last year, they start this year number 1. All that really matters in the end is that Wins and Losses column. And right now the Buckeyes are 1 and 4. Gut check time.

Sayin does lock onto Smith a lot but to be fair it's hard not to lock onto a generational WR. I think this is on the coaches to help fix though which they clearly have not done

Guys, there were enough failures to go around. We need to stop pretending like we can pin this on one person. Sayin missed a walk in TD in the 2nd half.....overthrew him by a lot. But he also played pretty great. Jeremiah dropped a couple passes that he usually would have caught. But obviously he went beast mode and is still an alien. We went conservative too early. The DLine was getting pushed around. The kicker missed what would've iced the game....but he nailed 3 before that, including a 48 yarder.

It makes us feel better if all of the problems are because of one thing, because then we can just change that one thing and everything is perfect. That's not how it works. We went to the wire with a really good team at their place and came up a point short in week 2. We've lost to much worse teams than #4 Texas @ Texas and won championships in that same season.

Yeah, pretty much. The manner of the loss was terrible, but it’s so early in the season.

The team’s going to look a lot different in 4 games. They rotated more last night than in most MAC games, and they had to due to heat, but it did them no favors. The starting 3 WRs will be playing most of the snaps going forward, and at some point Alford, Pettijohn, and maybe Wilder will be starters.

My main concern is the OL and passing game under pressure. It looked better last night than the end of ‘25, but it’s not there yet. Then again, it’s the 2nd game. They will continue to be blitzed until they can prove it’s ineffective, but unlike last year, they have much more time to solve it. If they can, OSU will be the premier offense in the country and teams will have to pick their poison.

I also like the kicker and don’t like how many fans have called it another ST disaster. He’ll miss some, but he can hit it from 50-55 and that’s not something OSU has had in decades

My main concern is that a roster with a ton of new players never fully recovers mentally from this. It's not gonna show against the Illinois and Maryland s of the B1G but we will see come Indiana if they e truly moved on from this collapse
