Game Thread tOSU at Texas, Sat. Sept 12, 7:30 pm ET, ABC

I have to add one more thing before I go to bed.

I think that pitch was stupid too, but I think that was on purpose. I think Ryan Day was hoping that cashed in so it’d be the ultimate “see this is how you do it” considering 2025 cotton bowl. Maybe I’m off base but I fully think that was an attempted fuck your message that failed.

Which is a bigger issue now that I think of it. I’ve never seen that play work near the goal line. Never.

I’ve seen it work on fourth and short mid field but never at the goal line

If day is running a play to try to make some stupid point that's an issue of its own

You'll see it a handful of times tomorrow during the NFL games too probably. It's weird.

There was just no energy from anyone in the 2nd half. Meanwhile Texas was playing with crackhead energy. Classic case of a team checking out because they assumed the game was over and this includes the coaches who that all falls on.
Yeah that’s all this was.

One team quit and one team kept swinging.

We quit.

I’ll take back that said not the defense.

They quit too.

Both sides quit because no one had the balls from either the offense or defense to step up and tell Ryan to stay aggressive. If I can see this loss coming 2 possessions before it happened I know the players and coaches could feel it.

So why didn’t anyone do anything? Why didn’t anyone tell Ryan to stay on the gas? Why did it have to again come down to a missed field goal.

Discounting the missed FG, that last offensive possession is going to bother the fuck out of me for a while.

2nd & 3 from the 27 yields 0 points.

2nd down and we call weakside zone that gets snuffed out with a nice assist in poor execution from the OL
3rd down and the OL surrenders pressure vs a 5 man rush with man free behind it. Meanwhile Julian checks to the vertical shot outside to Jeremiah and didn't work the (MUCH) higher 'Hank' to the boundary.

We've pretty much picked up exactly where we left off vs Miami.

- QB situation is highly dependent on the OL
- OL has individual rep fails on the majority of downs that limit the running game and/or passing game execution.

For me it all starts up front and this OL scarily reminds me of the Jim Bollman days at times.

Trying to cool off but not having much success yet……

Ryan Day has faced these teams with equal or greater talent than his OSU team:
2019 Clemson - lost a heartbreaker
2020 Alabama - destroyed but it was covid year, so let’s throw it out
2022 Georgia - lost a heartbreaker
2023 Michigan -lost in a blowout but Stalions was
2024 Texas - won a very close game broken open by sawyer
2026 Texas - lost a heartbreaker

that’s a record 1-5…..fairly probably 1-4. Not inspiring

To be fair that's just Ohio State... Always the bridesmaid. Winning titles is a crazy task.

Makes the Championship seasons really special.
