Game Thread tOSU at Penn State, Sat. Nov. 2, 12pm ET, FOX

The fumble into the endzone for a touchback is one of the rules I have never understood. Fumble it out of bounds anywhere else on the field and it is not a turnover. Why not make a dropped pass in the endzone a turnover too? I've never liked it as a rule. But maybe I'm the only one.

No, you're not the only one, it's a stupid rule. Sirius XM football commentators have shared their disdain for its idiocy often.

Thanks to all of you for your overwhelming support of the Ref Fund. Without your generosity, it seems quite clear that Penn State would have won that game. I know because a friend who went to school there tells me so. So, don't forget, start putting those small bills and change aside now for next year!

A team's offense is doing well and beating the defense about to score a TD but then the other team gets the ball on the 20. If the defense recovers the fumble in the endzone then sure it's a touch back but the ball is going out of bounds being recovered by no one. The ball should move back to the spot of the fumble and stay with the offense. You are rewarding the defense with a turnover that they never secured and giving them 20 free yards of field position. I hate this fucking rule. Way to punitive on the fumbling team.

Be sure to inquire if your employer offers a ref fund match too. Mine will match up to 6% of my contributions

So I went to the game. I was the guest of a past PSU letterman (79-83). Incredible experience. The PSU fans were fine. Some chippy talk but that’s expected.

The place was loud. I was at our game against Iowa last month and the game experience was meh. PSU works their crowd hard. I was so proud of how we handled the noise. No procedure / false start penalties.

So after the game I’m a tailgate with other past players. I’m chatting up with some guy who is complementing OSU and Day for the win. And he was in Eugene for our game against the Ducks. He said that experience with noise certainly helped us this time. One of the Penn State guys I’m with introduced me to him. Jay Paterno

Awkward.

Did you ask him if his dad was watching from down there?
