Sticking with my streak here:

We lose this one.

I actually am extremely worried about this game. We either lose big or just eek out a win.

Something tells me things start clicking both offensively and defensively. I'm not saying our offense has struggled, but the Bucks haven't had both units click in the same game. They played pretty well defensively against Michigan State, but Sparty's offense is atrocious.

Kenny Guiton or Braxton Miller at QB, it doesn't matter. Both bring a dynamic to the game that Penn State will struggle with. I'll be absolutely blown away if Miller is cleared and ready to play by Saturday. If Guiton starts, look for Jake Stoneburner to be the X-factor in the game.

I made an interesting observation once Guiton came into the game and was able to immediately get Stoney involved. Braxton Miller spent four years at Wayne without a true receiving TE. I'm not so sure he's at the point in his career where he's getting to Stoneburner in his progressions. Yes, I know Jake has been converted into a WR, but he still lines up at the natural TE position in some formations.

As for the defense, here's to hoping the secondary can work on slowing down the quick slants and screen passes. I think Penn State is going to key in on using a similar gameplan that Purdue brought to the Horseshoe this past weekend. If they try to do what Purdue primarily did, they are going to run into a buzzsaw, IMO. Urban, Fickell, and co. are going to make sure this secondary and LB's are keying in on those type of plays, while hopefully containing the big play. As for containing the run, I'm not incredibly worried. I know they looked impressive running the ball against Iowa, but they are a shell of what they have had in the past defensively.

I really fucking hate predicting a score, but after my horrendous prediction (while being sarcastic, I fully expected a blowout) in the OSU-IU game, I need to redeem myself a bit.

I'm going to say:

Ohio State 38
Penn State 28

Football is a game of emotions.

If Ohio State taps into this energy and carrys it through the week of practice and into Happy Valley I think we will be in good shape.

I wish we had our bye week after 6-7 games (closer to midway point) to get a little bit healthier. But play the hand you're dealt.

Offense seems to be adjusting in-game. Hope defense can step up this week and both sides can perform.

So if the officials are trying to keep the two ineligible teams from going undefeated, does this game get called fairly? :paranoid:

Seriously, though, I'm nervous about this game, but think our offense will get off to a much better start and the defense will carry over their momentum from OT of the Purdue game.

I just got tickets Friday, so I'm going. Very excited, because I haven't been to a Buckeye game in several years. Unfortunately, my record seeing OSU at Penn State isn't good- I think I'm 1-2 there. I'll see what I can do to change that this Saturday.

I"m not sure what to think about this one. It would be nice to see both the off. and def. finally "click" together. I'm a little nervous, though... pretty soon we're going to run up against a team that we won't be able to outscore to win. I think defense and the running game will be key.

In the Purdue game when we went for the 2 points to tie. Urban and the offensive line were ready to dial up a run by Hyde, Tom Herman convinced them to go with crowding the defense in the middle which free-ed up Huermen
in the flats for the easy 2. And now i really think this one got Urbans attention and maybe Herman can be a definate factor in the play calling against Penn State. At least i am hoping that this will be the direction our offense has to come up with. We are going to have to do something against these guys. Like alot of you stated. This game is thier bowl game like ours will be against Tsun.

Does ESPN usually have 5:30pm games? Not that it is really important, but why would this game be at such a weird time? It's a great time for a home game though. I wish Ohio State had some 5:30pm home games. Just seems weird. Gives ESPN a two hour gap between the noon game and this game.

I can only assume the odd kick time is so they don't miss any of the World Series game. If that's not the reason, and someone else knows the real reason, by all means, enlighten me.....

Before the season I was looking at this game as a blow-out OSU win. Now I am worried to death - which is why I think Bill O'Brien is the coach of the year. What he has done with that team in the face of incredible circumstances is amazing. Ohio State is the more talented team, but PSU plays so solid in all 3 phases - except they can't trust their fg kicker - but they work around that.

The thing I am most impressed with is that O'Brien has turned McMoxie from a TO machine to a mini-Brady. He's accurate and makes good decisions. We have trouble pressuring and covering consistently. We will take away the run, but they will move the ball and score. That makes it imperitive that Ohio State moves the ball and scores with them.

The benefit is, that PSU is no longer a spread team. I don't know why people said Purdue wasn't because they were.

We won't face another true spread team again until Michigan.
