The Amos personal foul should have not been called, IMO, as he was in the middle of his move when the ball sailed over Brown's (IIRC) head , so I do think we got away with one there.

I have to rewatch the play on a TV (since my cable was out) but didn't he lead with the helmet on that hit?

On the punt where PSU got called for holding, I at first thought OSU got a break unitl I watched the replay. Had the PSU player simply pushed him to the ground, I don't think it gets called. But, he clearly grabbed the jersey at the shoulder pads which is why the ref threw the flag.

Also on replay, there is a shot of the PSU player talking to Bill O'Bagodix and demonstrating the grab of the shoulder pads and pulling down.

I honestly don't know what is more mesmerizing. Braxton's moves or Carlos getting destroyed. I don't know who was supposed to block #90, but they missed.

5 man front vs all out blitz. Someone was going to get through. PSU banked on the run. Chris Fields was in the endzone unguarded.

Re-watching the game now.

It's no wonder the Penn State cult think the refs favored Ohio State; I am not even into the second quarter and the announcers have already mentioned "bad calls" at least 3-4 times... all against Penn State of course.

Not a peep out of them about the BS personal foul call on O. Johnson.

Their reaction to that was to casually shrug it off with "I guess he was frustrated and gave him a little push late." Not, "both players were engaged as momentum carried them out of bounds and the one in front tripped. BAD CALL!"

Shrug off stupid calls against Ohio State, call out penalties against Ohio State that you think should have been called but weren't (holding), and call every call against Penn State a bad call and talk about it for the next few plays.

All of that just in the first quarter and I already know how the announcers treated the holding call on the punt.

Like I said, with awesome ESPN announcing like that, it's no wonder they are crying so loud.

So, whoever was with Spielman in the booth made a HUGE point about Ohio State "getting away" with holding that wasn't called but not a peep about it when way more flagrant stuff goes uncalled against John Simon every single play (Spielman also mentioned Ohio State "getting away" with a holding but the refs were "letting them play," which is also :shake: worthy).

It's hugely frustrating, especially considering how much of a factor the announcers bitching about bad calls had on the cult's perception of the game.

As was pointed out after the Purdue game and Hope's BS, anyone who complains about holding needs to watch our DEs for a few plays and STFU. It's pretty unbelievable that the person that needs to STFU about that in this case was one of the "unbiased" ESPN announcers.

I got the sense that Ohio State knew they were the better team and that they were just going to weather the emotional storm from the PSU team and crowd - partly by playing it a little close to the vest early - and that they knew that they could put them away when they wanted to.

Shazier's pick 6 proved that McMoxie is still the same guy. Loved it.

Didn't get to see the game, just got home. Heard lots of penn state whining about officiating. Were the refs really that bad or is it just typical losing team REFS COST US DA GAME crying?

Glad to see the bucks dominate a decent team. Lots to feel good about it looks like from the stat lines.

Official scientific unbiased poll  on the first half officiating of the Ohio State Penn State game:

Who got the better end of first-half officiating, OSU or PSU?

Ohio State benefited 92.49% (936 votes)

Officials called the game evenly 5.53% (56 votes)

Penn State benefited 1.98% (20 votes)

The next story they will be running: Who torched the houses of the 20 people that voted Penn State in the poll.

I would have to disagree. They called a ton of pass plays that were wide open in the first half, Miller just missed them.

No coach, be it Tressel and damn sure not Meyer, takes it easy on anyone to put them away later. OSU was trying their best to score, they just couldn't until they made some adjustments.

The biggest positive I am seeing on offense;
1. Miller reading the zone read infinitely better
2. Receivers are pretty consistently getting open
3. Miller sees them

Once he starts consistently hitting them this offense will be unfair.

Yeah it was the refs who limited PSU running attack to under 40 yds.

It was the refs who got the pick six against McMoxie.

It was the refs who sacked McMoxie 4 times.

It was the refs who deflected the pass on the fake punt attempt.

It was the refs who torched the PSU secondary for a 72 yd TD pass.

It was the refs who grabbed the facemask of tOSU players and kept drives
alive.

It was the ref who illegally held down the long snapper on a punt.
Note: Maybe PSU fans should watch the game in which Reynolds was flagged for doing the same thing (I think against Wisky? or was itscUM?).

It was the refs who could not keep up with the speed and athleticism of Braxton Miller.

It was the refs who put so much pressure on McMoxie that he hurried most of his throws and was off balance and pressured much of the game.

Darn those refs...
