Haven't updated this in awhile, but:

They had an amazing streak of All-American LBs from '68 to '75 which earned them the nickname. After that, they haven't been any better than most other elite programs and it is relatively easy to make the argument that Ohio State has been at least as successful if not better at pumping out elite LBs.

I will have to dig through some boxes, but several years ago one of the major pre season publications did an article about just that. ( I think it was Athlon ) At that time they said the case could be made by TOSU for the "Linebacker U" title.
Gonna try to dig that up and post it.
