Honest question here...what was the deal with first half catch overturn by Marv where he clearly had a foot on the ground before landing on the sideline? Am I missing something?
No, that was a catch, and the replay refs should be suspended for missing something so obvious.

It was at halftime that the announcers showed the play again and said his foot was down.

Announcers later did state that his feet were clearly down. Per the announcers, they contacted the B1G review officials who stated that they deemed that he lost control of the ball as he landed. They showed the replay again and he didn’t lose control.
Sounds like they didn't see the foot and made a moronic cover after someone pointed it out to them

I know you’re just testing my old memory, but the 1935 game in C-bus was the one called the “game of the century”, where William Shakespeare threw the game-winning pass as time expired.

Last night finally returned that last-second-loss pain to South Bend, where it belongs.
Note: in 1935 rules did not allow teams to substitute freely. A player pulled from the game could not return until the next quarter. Up 13 -zip, Francis Schmidt pulled his 1st string at the end of the third quarter, making them ineligible to return to the game. The Bucks were still up by one with less than two minutes to play but a halfback didn’t go down when stopped, fumbled the ball, and ND completed a short drive with almost no time left on the clock to finally win the game. Someone has a film if most of the game including the final drive and has placed it on Netflix.

Reading football comments across the internet always reminds me of how stupid most humans are. Of course playing ten players in the last two plays of the winning drive is unforgivable. But mouthbreathers everywhere think you can just run a player on the field and give up a one foot penalty before the touchdown play and it's slightly infuriating. If I wasn't banned from reddit already it would have happened last night.

Not only that you probably give Ohio State a free shot with the play which is what they were more worried about

Interesting item for the gamblers:

Ohio State - Notre Dame refs adding 1 second back on the clock led to the worst bad beat of the season

The end of Ohio State-Notre Dame featured what will certainly be one of the most dramatic finishes of the college football season.

It also featured what will undoubtedly be the most brutal bad beat that sports bettors will face on Saturdays this fall.

On the 3rd-and-goal right outside the Notre Dame end zone with just three seconds to go, Ohio State running back Chip Trayanum ran in a touchdown to give Ohio State the 16-14 walk-off victory as time expired.

Well, that’s how it looked until the referees decided there was a second left on the clock for an extra point try for the Buckeyes.

That’s not the end of the world for Ohio State, who would kick the extra point with ease and add to the score by a single point.

For bettors and sportsbooks alike, it was a devastating blow as the extra point pushed all bets on the game.

You see, the game spread was three points for both Ohio State and Notre Dame bettors. A two-point difference in the final outcome would’ve cashed every bet for Notre Dame +2.5 or +3, but a three-point difference doesn’t do anyone any favors.

I actually wondered if Ohio State would actually try the kick. I know extra point kicks are almost never blocked and run back for 2 points; however, going for 2 and just take a knee might have been a safer option:

Just getting home from the game in South Bend. That environment was absolutely electric. The tailgating, game day and all the buildup to the game on a stunning September Saturday only added to the energy in the stadium. I was at the 10 yard line and got to see all the action up close in the 4th quarter. When we got the stop with 2 minutes left the ND fans sensed another loss was coming. A few observations from being there live:

- Our D put on a hell of a 1st half performance
- ND’s OL was winning the line of scrimmage in the 2nd half and everyone was stunned they didn’t keep the ball on the ground
- Marv definitely caught that 30 yard completion in the 1st half and it was a thing of beauty
- McCord was shaky but gained major poise as the game wore on - he missed some of his reads and we were spoiled with Stouds ball placement. McCord protected the ball, moved well in the pocket and he was in command in that final drive
- The lack of pass pressure is so frustrating but they did a good job containing their ground game and stopped Estime for the most part - that guy is no fun to tackle
- Not a soul left that stadium until Chips touchdown review was over - we celebrated the victory 3 times because of the review and the final kick with 1 second

So happy I got to see this game live. Great reminder of how amazing this sport is. Some of the situational play calling left a lot to be desired but proud of how tOSU persevered in that environment. The lid was absolutely about to blow right off that place. I think this game is the confidence booster this squad needed and the got the job done on test #1. Enjoy another victory over ND and let’s use the bye week to work on our short yardage play calling / execution!

Ok since my previous explanation for what I saw was ignored, I FIXED it just for you. Again, I am Day fan. Fan of Day. Night can suck it.

THE WAY SOME PEOPLE REACT "Feeds into my fire DAY issue. Who will just idk step in on a moment's notice? OR is this season just a lost cause" BECAUSE IF WE JUST UP AND FIRE HIM, WHO IS GONNA TAKE OVER AND BE BETTER? DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THAT THE SEASON IS A LOST CAUSE BECAUSE DAY IS STILL THE COACH?
My bad. Was drinking (that should be obvious lol) and couldn't figure out how to un-post quote.
