Game Thread tOSU at Nebraska, Sat October 8, 2011, 8 pm ET, ABC

I'll be somewhere in Mexico on the Riv Maya in an all inclusive sucking down Don Julio Blano tequila martinis all week. Slingbox is set up and ready to push the signal across the boarder if the fools in the bar decide to only show large scale foosball on grass.

Ready to enjoy seeing big Mike hit the field... looking forward to a completely different game plan. Looking forward to a tOSU win.

Go Bucks!

Put Miller's arm to work and take at least four to five solid deep shots to Philly Brown. Stretch the field and make UNL pay dearly for stacking the box.

And FFS, find the page in the playbook that has screen passes. Hall, Berry, Brown on a WR screen...anything to slow down the damned rush.

Oh, and if they're going to call the damned bootleg, do it when Miller is IN THE GAME and not on the sidelines.

Is Philly playing this week?

:io: While night games are fun, I hate waiting all day for the game. Patience sucks.

The tone will be set early. If the Huskers get up early it's over. Hang around and build some confidence and who knows!
But remember, this is not a division game and if we can show progress and play well, we can still make a run for our division. :oh:

I'm a little confused by this. Don't all conference games count toward our conference record? We'd still have 2 losses and have to hope someone else beats everyone else other than us in our division.

But :io:

Big Ten Conference record determines division champion

According to Wikipedia site, it is conference record that determines each division champion (not just the divisional record). This makes sense because out of a 12 game season, only 5 games would really be meaningful if only division games counted. However, I am unable to find confirmation within the Wikipedia sources. The BigTen page on divisional tiebreakers is of little help.

Getting Pumped Up

We fly out tonight via Minneapolis and don't get to Omaha till ~midnight, but we will be up early and down to Lincoln for kegs and eggs. I even packed my Ohio State car flag to spruce up the rental on our drive down.

I'm looking forward to seeing this husker crowd. They should be pretty pumped and looking to kick ass, so the game environment will be great to visit.

This will complete my tour of Ohio State playing at all big ten stadiums (again). I have planned Big Ten road trips six times. Received SIX standing ovations for them. Very humbling experience.

Yeah, this is just the way all of the others have been doing it so I assumed we would as well.

All conference games count toward winning your division. It was the same way in the Big 12. Games against teams in your own division tend to be bigger because of head to head tie breakers.

For instance, Nebraska has 1 loss right now. If it comes down to a 6-1 Nebraska team playing a 7-0 Iowa team in the last game of the year. Nebraska could still win the division outright by beating Iowa. Even with identical 7-1 records, Nebraska goes to the Championship game with a head to head victory tie breaker.
