tOSU at Navy (M&T Bank Stadium), Aug 30th @ 12pm ET, CBS Sports Network

Finally got to watch the tv broadcast. I've seen a lot of people say that elliot wasn't down until he got the first down, and then they punched the ball out. Those people are wrong. He was down when his left elbow/forearm were on the ground, before he lunged over the body of the navy player with his back and then landed on his shoulders. it would have been 4th and 1 anyway.

Yep. Just re-watched the second half today and thought the same thing...sad thing is that neither Lundquist nor Danielson saw it that way.

Offensive MVP: Elliott

Not surprised. Elliot has (I think) clearly separated himself as a blocker, enough to the point that if everyone were nearly even running the ball, EzE is the 2014 starting RB because of all the other things he can do. There was a play in the fourth quarter on 3rd and 11 that JT ran a delayed draw up the middle and gained about 15 yards. Elliot lead him through the hole and absolutely stood up a LB and tossed him backwards. It was a pretty vicious block; Barrett likely would not have picked up the first down without it.

That's somewhat of a worry of mine for VA Tech. Their first game was against a nobody, so while we had to gameplan like crazy to play navy, they could probably spend more time on us.

Doesn't worry me too much. I mean, what would they have been preparing for? Braxton Miller.
Whatever they were gameplanning probably went into the shredder when Brax got hurt. Even with an extra ~2 weeks, it's not like there was a lot of tape on JT. Spring Game and then... HS?
I think they'll have more work to do this week now that the OLine is a known weakness, Samuel and Wilson have shown they will play a major role, Marshall and Thomas got touches, and they still can't ignore that deep ball to Smith.

Whatever do you mean?

M&T was about 2/3rds full and most of the crowd was clad in scarlet.
Disappointing crowd given that Annapolis is so close by and they get 31K in to watch them play Towson.
Ohio certainly held up its end of the bargain.
$40 to park in the stadium lot, $8.25 for Bud Light - I didn't buy.
Well designed stadium with 100% unobstructed sight lines. Very friendly crowd.
The "parade in" of the Brigade of Midshipmen was impressive and touching.
If you think we're focused on the rivalry with Michigan - ain't nothing compared to the focus between Army and Navy.
The Midshipman gave full attention to the brief TBDBITL show, sang and applauded when the band formed an anchor and marched it down the field, stood and applauded Script Ohio.
At the end of the game, Buckeyes joined the Navy team in singing The Navy Blue and Gold, then both teams joined TBDBITL at the other end of the stadium and sang Carmen Ohio. Class act on both sides.
Star Spangled Banner sung by Navy glee club, made you want to grab a flag and march somewhere, anywhere.
My impression on our O - line? Navy was excellent at getting off their blocks which is why the going wide game didn't work. Quickness can beat overwhelming size with the right game plan. Same could be said of the Navy OL, they simply beat the Buckeyes to the punch on each snap.
When Dave was resurrected the game changed. Navy had no answer for a team of OSU's size running straight at them.
Didn't see any improvement in the back 7 especially at linebacker. Unless the DE was able to get to the QB the pitch play was a threat to go the distance at any time.
Very impressed with Barret's play. Yeah, he panicked and threw one ball he shouldn't have, but the rest of his throws were right on target - better passer at the this point in time than Brax was first year - by a wide margin - but he's not going to break any rushing records of Brax.
