All in all, lots of problems but some signs of brilliance.
On offense, there were a lot of unrealistic expectations. Barrett needs a lot of work, but he impressed me with his poise. I think he is more mobile than we saw today. I don't think a lot of fans expected the Buckeyes to put up 34 points after that first half. The O line looked better as the game progressed. Samuel and Zeke had moments. I'd give them a B-.
The defense scares me a bit. Granted, this is a team that can run the option well and they are experienced, but there were too many big plays given on the day. When the defensive play calling became more aggressive, the D-line showed its teeth a bit more. The second half, they had some signs of real excellence. I'd give them a B- as well.
It does no good to cry over the refs, but it must be noted that every major call and spot went against the Buckeyes, including that bogus first touchdown.
I'll take the win. The scoreline looks good enough to keep them in the top 12, but this team needs a lot of work before it becomes a NC challenger or even a B1G champion.
