They've already got three teams - ND, Bama, and Clemson. They'll just take whoever loses to Bama.

So having a few minutes to process here; If the guys who are out today leave us too short handed to play and they are out the next 2-3 weeks (depending on when clock started) doesn't that mean you can go ahead and cancel those games?

The rule doesn't say anything about filling spots with walkons or 85 man limits, it's just x% of players test positive. Right? Well, won't that number stay the same?

But if they did this, that fourth team would have to be ranked fourth in the CFP, right? If so, that would mean an immediate rematch with Bama.
Is that something that would put eyeballs on screens?

ESPN has no financial interest in the Big Ten Network, and consequently, the Big Ten brand.

It has a vested financial interest in the SEC and ACC networks and subsequently, those two brands.

ESPN has shown a willingness to rematch two SEC teams for the title.

Connect dots as you will.

Ironically ND playing in the ACC this year could be what gives us a chance.

The powers that be really don't want a playoff with only two conferences represented. Just doesn't sell well as a National Championship.

If ND was getting in as an independent it would be easier.

Any other team in the ACC and I would agree. But ND is still their own entity, they will be marketed as an Indy in the playoff. Unless they lose before they play Clemson again, they’re in.

Do we actually know this (not enough players) is the case?

I could have sworn I read last night it was an increase from 2 to 6 (and lets just stipulate I was pretty hammered) and that the initial response was to move the game to 3:30 (and this is the danger.of twitter and weirdos on twitter) so in my feeble mind I assumed that the problem is they couldn't get contact tracing done in time.

Now, all that is fog of war info and probably all wrong and I have fog of hangover information absorption issues at the moment.

So, my question is, what is it that we actually know?
