tOSU at Illinois, November 28th, Cancelled

Ironically ND playing in the ACC this year could be what gives us a chance.

The powers that be really don't want a playoff with only two conferences represented. Just doesn't sell well as a National Championship.

If ND was getting in as an independent it would be easier.

ESPN doesn't care, it still draws enough eyeballs, and keeps it within their fully owned conferences. They'll enjoy the hate watching and clicks from Big XII and B1G fans while their conference invitational goes on.

Do we actually know this (not enough players) is the case?

I could have sworn I read last night it was an increase from 2 to 6 (and lets just stipulate I was pretty hammered) and that the initial response was to move the game to 3:30 (and this is the danger.of twitter and weirdos on twitter) so in my feeble mind I assumed that the problem is they couldn't get contact tracing done in time.

Now, all that is fog of war info and probably all wrong and I have fog of hangover information absorption issues at the moment.

So, my question is, what is it that we actually know?

I read the answer over at 11W and you nailed the critical question; 'was it due to hitting the limit or not?'

If yes, then next week is already gone. If no, then there is still a chance.

If no caveat; anyone named in this positive list is gone for The Game if we should still be able to see it played.

Well, if the limit is 5% then 6 does it. (Out of 105?)

It would seem if they hit the limit, its a 7 day shutdown. (And who the fuck knows what all the protocols are) But I'm sure further positive tests are bad.

And yes, any player is down 21 days.

Well,.they have to say something.

The method is what strikes me as not good news, along with both of them being on the call. If it's nothing to worry about WRT the remaining 2 games, one of them goes on a call like that or you release a simple statement. Both of them on it says to me this puts the remaining 2 games in serious jeopardy.

My understanding is that it isn't just players but coaches, trainers and the whole crew.

That means 5% of more than 105 but also that a smaller or larger proportion could be players.

ESPN dream scenario is Bama, OSU, Clemson, and ND.

Big 12 already shot their wad.

Pac 12 will do same or not be relevant enough.

OSU fans should root for Bama to run roughshod over opponents IMO. A Florida loss to Bama in SEC championship helps OSU a lot.

CFP will not put Northwestern or Indiana in over OSU IMO.

In theory OSU still has 2 games (Michigan State likely cancelled). Even if Michigan cancels, we have 1 remaining game at neutral site (likely on fast track) to juice our current standing.

I continue to believe if we have zero losses and Justin Fields at QB, we are in. It’s the rare year, ESPN is pulling for OSU. They’re hemorrhaging and need as many eyeballs as possible in CFP.
