tOSU at Illinois, November 28th, Cancelled

Cautiously optimistic. Hope all will be well with you guys!

This is a legitimate hope. If we can stay under the threshold for next week (seems less than likely but who knows), then I’m sure people will criticize the decision to cancel Illinois in hindsight. But it was absolutely the right call to preserve the possibility of next week and the week after. If they fly in a plane and play a game without having a stronger sense of who and who isn’t positive, they’d have run too big of a risk of losing the rest of the season.

Fingers fucking crossed like a mother fucker.

Here's an ugly thought.....Michigan can actually beat tOSU - by declaring Covid and cancelling our game with them. Then, that will give tOSU only 5 wins, and not enough to qualify for the playoffs. Sorry, I'm Negative Nelly and the glass is half empty.

No they won't. This conference and the sportswriters in its orbit have been the vanguard of the participation trophy culture for decades.

COY trophies. No repeat/last to go rules. Co Champions etc etc etc.

They will jizz on themselves with the feel good story of two light weights like NU and IU playing in the B1CCG while ignoring the OSU absence entirely. They split the COY vote between Fitz and Allen as well. Watch.
There will certainly be that but the questions (particularly to IU) would be coming about how legitimate their championship is as well. Itll be both and the whole country will know they're not the champions.

Oh well though... hopefully we can play ttun in two weeks and then Wisconsin the championship week. If we put up big numbers on them maybe we can hang onto that #4 spot at least.

So, if I understand the numbers from this press conference, Ohio State has at least 13 people within the program that are positive (there are 170 people in the program, and 7.5% threshold would put that number at 12.75 - Doc said Ohio State crossed this threshold yesterday). Of those at least 13, 6 or fewer are players (6% positivity rate of 105 players is 6.3 - Doc said Ohio State had not crossed this threshold)

Gene also said Ohio State could have played today, but that it would have been irresponsible to do so under the circumstances.

But if they did this, that fourth team would have to be ranked fourth in the CFP, right? If so, that would mean an immediate rematch with Bama.
Is that something that would put eyeballs on screens?
Not to mention that team would have 2 loses... there will be no 2nd SEC team especially considering how there will be two ACC teams.

The 4th team will be Ohio State or the big ten champ.

The Sparty game is already in doubt so we're stuck at 4 until further notice.

Say what you want about Harbaugh but that crazy fucker ain’t fake cancelling a game. He wants to play. He’s not running away from a fight.

What are the odds that IU brought Covid-positive players to Columbus last week?
Don’t know but it’s not likely their fault or they’d be having issues as well.
Exactly... and watching other teams play and knowing how careful our staff is I have 1 opinion that probably wont be popular.

With the amount of players who all the sudden were positive after so many weeks of basically nothing I have to think a few of our players screwed up.

It could be as simple as someone's family dropping buy to bring food for thanksgiving. I wouldn't necesarily call that screwing up. The nature of covid is you can not screw up and still get infected.
