Yeah, the problem is in todays economy companies can afford to be pretty selective about GPA. You want to keep it above a 3.0 if you can.


Going back to Satellite campus thing..it's pretty easy to transfer in to main campus..with the academic record you had in high school don't see you having any problems getting the job done.

to anyone who doesn't get in, but is passionate about attending OSU some day, if you get rejected, go to a community college, get an AA and transfer, its pretty easy to transfer into Ohio St. I transfered in from a Florida community college with a 2.91 GPA and a 21 on my ACT (I can't remember if I had to still send it in), and had a 3.0 HS GPA. going to a community college was the best choice I ever made, prepared me for college type classes, and a college type environment (sort of), and at least for me it was free (had a full ride cause I graduated from the local HS)

I noticed I posted in this thread 3 years ago when I was applying...wow, apparently I didn't know how to spell on the internet back then :lol: But I did get accepted, but only got to stay 1 year cause of costs and changing my major, I miss it SOOOOOOO much, hope to go back for grad school :(

I'm a current freshman here, out of state, and I absolutely love it. I was fortunate enough to receive enough scholarships because of my grades/HS extracirrics that I'm essentially paying in-state tuition.

I got in last year with what I believe was a 3.7 GPA, 29 on the ACT, and 1890 on the SAT. Love it. This was the best choice I've ever made in my entire life.

Honestly, you just picked a bad year to graduate. They're shutting down a majority of South Campus next year for renovations. Freshman being required to live in dorms + less dorm space= lower enrollment.

But yes, academic standards have been raised, but deservedly so. Its becoming a great academic school. I came in with a 32 GPA and 3.96 HS GPA. I started off with a 2.3 and am currently riding my 2.8 GPA in Chemical Engineering.

Man, Ohio kids have it rough. I grew up in New Jersey. In high school I had a 2.3 GPA and a 1430 (out of 1600) on the SATs. Ohio State not only accepted me, but let me into Fisher, put me in the Honors program, and gave me $5k a year in scholarship.

How is chemical engineering? I'm starting off in chemistry, but I dunno if i'll stick to it

No kidding...so did I. My frosh year I was at Newark and lived on the campus "dorms". What year were you at Nerk?

I graduated with a 3.0 and a 22 on ACT (yeah yeah, I hate tests) got accepted to main campus, parents thought Nerk would be a good transition for me. I think its because I went to one of the best schools in N.E. Ohio. Doesn't matter I still got football tickets and my degree.

I was there for two school years starting in the fall of '05. Didn't hang out too much in the dorms though.

On College Confidential, a lot of kids for next year's class with 27 and 28 on the ACT are getting deferred. They still might ultimately get accepted, but it tells me that there's a lot of 29+ scores in the applicant pool, and admissions is waiting to gauge how many accept their offers. Average ACT should jump from 28 to around 28.5 this year.

The other great thing about that page is that you'll notice that Fredo of Ohio pays to run two 24/7/365 banner ads on Ohio State's discussion page. Hey Fredo, if it's come down to taking out banner ads, you've already lost.:box:
