Thanks for the information. Also, I play football and I used to play baseball, I am working on some community service hours and my class ranking is good. So hopefully that helps.

Also, it seems like you must had a lot of really intelligent people at your high school, having a 3.9 GPA and finishing 44th in the class. I am 16th in mine and my GPA is only a 3.75. Good luck with your pharmacy program at Toledo.

Progressive Catholic school + ridiculous weighted grading scale = 30 people in the class having GPAs above 4.0.

My GPA before my Junior year was 3.4, but I took 9 AP classes my final two years, and those were weighted an entire point for GPA, and this just gets out of control when the school is competitive and everyone is trying to finish in the top 10 percent of the class.

Good luck getting accepted and good luck on the ACT.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I am going to try hard next year to do really well academically as well athletically. But, if I don't get accepted into OSU in Columubus, I will be going to the branch here in Lima. Did you go to a high school in Lima?

Delphos Jefferson. I live with LCC grads currently.

must be nice and i wish we would of had that at my public school. the only thing i hate is i see examples of schools like that and their students get to college and go to hell. obviously i am not saying you will because you sound like you know what you are doing but it just seems like a lot of the schools like that do it almost as an advertisement to say "hey we graduated this many kids at this GPA" or "hey we have this many kids going to college" but in reality they are kinda beating around the system IMO. but if that so happens to be your case that you can do it then i would take full advantage of it.

JeffCat how's come you aren't JohnBlue or something else similar? I respect the no catholic thing, but DJ has been horrible at sports for many, many years....

for many years? you have to be kidding me right? 05 was the footballs first losing season since 78. st johns is bunch of garbage. i don't care what anybody claims over there. i personally know for a fact they are doing illegal things over there even though i can't prove it to you. with that said they take the ability of what they can legally do to a very fine line publicly. i will attend a correct public school with a tradition of sports success as oppposed to a corrupt one that i could rant on forever about but i will just stop there on that issue. jeffcat forever.

It don't think it really makes that much of a difference, because colleges know which high schools use weighted scales and which don't.

GPA is important, but test scores are almost just as important(and they're the reason I was accepted to Ohio State and the reason I got the scholarship offer).

I know when I talk to sophomores at my high school, I always stress to them the importance of the ACT. It can really boost your resume if you score high, and it can prevent you from getting in even if you have a high GPA.

If you think about it, there are tons more kids who are top 10 percent in their class than there are kids that get 30+ on the ACT. I just can't stress enough how important I think the ACT is.

oh i wholeheartedly agree with you. personally, i feel as if there is way too much weight on the ACT itself but thats just me. you could be the top graduating senior in a class of 400 kids but if you get a 20 on your ACT you are screwed and i find a problem with that ESPECIALLY as a timed test. there are people that are real intellectuals and mentally capable of the sky being the limit but they may not be able to take a timed test like the ACT and do well. this is where i feel there is a fault in the system.

How do you figure? Good standardized test scores speak volumes to someone who gets excellent grades, IMHO.

maybe but say one can not do so well in a timed environment such as they provide. i think standardized testing is the way to go but either lower the weight of the ACT or change how the standardized testing is offered and i say they need to change how it is offered in a new testing format. don't ask how because i havn't thought about that too much. all i know is i know many students who were great in high school but took the ACT multiple times, yet did subpar and were forced into poor financial spots and education starts. one of which is now an honors civil engineering student with a 4.0 at ohio and also the #2 civil engineering student in his entire graduating class at ohio.

Schools do not only base their acceptance policies on standardized tests. They weigh all the information. Standardized tests say a lot more about a person than one who can study all day and night for a test.

this is where i am willing to disagree to an extent. i do not think GPA should be valued more than standardized testing but the testing is the make or break factor in their decision making. you can look amazing but if your ACT is low it is direct blow to the chin in your application. i disagree with the idea of studying. people frequently study ACT practice tests and study for the ACT as well but i would rather have the person that is willing to study for their tests towards their GPA(given the curriculum is solid) because it exemplifies the qualities of that student as a student and especially one of capability by being a hard working student in and out of the classroom to go out and learn the material and know it. to each his own i guess.
