Digger just called Thad "one of the best coaches in the country", then they all went into their "the Big Ten is terrible" routine. :ohwell:

I recently did a bit of research. My question? Is Digger Phelps really Gomer Pyle?

You be the judge. Here, by the way, is an ageing of an older photo of Gomer's.

The push back against 8 Big Ten teams is likely to keep our seed lower, so that Big Ten teams have a bit rougher ride, no?
I really can't see us getting above a #7 seed because with our victory over the "best team" in the Big 10 it probably hurt the overall power rating of the conference. We really don't have a dominant gene and we are the fourth best team in the conference and Purdue and Illinois aren't really projected that high.

I could possibly see us getting a #6 seed if we would win tomorrow but the Big 10 conference is just not looked as a good basketball conference because we don't score many points. We just play defense and play at a slower tempo. I have no problem with that but all of the talking heads seem to think that if you don't score a lot of points you are not a very good conference.

Digger

please don't compare me with him:!
Since Dayton is hosting Fri/Sun games, do you think that means that if Dayton or Ohio State aren't playing AT Dayton, then they will be playing on Thur/Sat, so that local people will be more likely to go to the NCAA games, cuz if they were at the same time that OSU or Dayton were playing somewhere else, people might not want to go.

I ask cuz I fly Friday, so I am really hoping OSU and Dayton are thur/sat

I really have no idea how the Committee decides on which days a team will play. I do not think that Dayton will play at Dayton but I think Ohio State might have a good shot but who knows what those guys think about behind closed doors. Hell, Dayton may play Ohio State. Now that would be fun. Hopefully for you, they're both will play on Thursday at different times:)

Suck it Sparty.

Big time win. This is a tough group of kids and they're playing every game like it counts...love that heading into the tourney. Just imagine if this team had Lighty and a little more depth...

This is almost reminiscent of last year when we started playing well in the NIT. They look more like they are enjoying playing the game and playing together as a team which has not been the case all of this season.

I can see it now, the Big Ten gets like 6-7 bids, all but 2 of them are lower than 4 seeds - meaning they're not supposed to reach the Sweet 16 - the lower seeds will lose and dipshits like Phelps will go "see?"

They'll put W/L records up, irrespective of whether a team played Binghamton or UCLA, to make their point. :roll1:

Low seeds for good teams also lead to upset opportunities. A higher seeded team is not going to want to draw Michigan or Minny in round 1, or have to face a Purdue or Illinois (or Ohio State) in round 2.

The Big Ten has four or five teams which can knock off anyone in the country on any given night, and hopefully we'll see that happen.

Please send Penn State to the NIT, though.

any updates on Buford? Was it just a cramp?

He wasn't receiving any attention on the bench so I'm assuming he's okay until I hear otherwise.

Loved this quote:

"Yeah, we watch TV, and we've heard people talking about Michigan State getting a No. 1 seed. We were like, 'Not on our watch, not on our watch,' " P.J. Hill said.
