tOSU -4.5 at TSUN (ov/un 128.5) Sat 9 ET, ESPN

TSUN got called for more fouls and the free-throw count was almost the same (15-to-14 OSU).

It was turnovers and points off of turnovers. Every other stat was the similar.

I'm sorry that I picked you as I've seen it a lot. But equal fouls does not equal fair no matter how much basketball has conditioned us to think so. Sometimes teams foul more then others actually statistically teams are far less likely to have equal fouls. If you couldn't see that nearly every time we got within 3 in the last 6 mins that there was big call for michigan or no call I don't know what else to say.

51 points.

Cry about "the refs" all you like but we scored 51 points.

38% shooting
3 for 15 from three
Buford goes 3 for 12
12 turnovers

Not going to beat anyone playing like that. :(
I agree, but when it's a one posession game with time winding down and you have two *horrific* calls go against you, it certainly plays a role. The way they were playing, they may very well have butchered the chances, but it sure as hell doesn't help. Either way, shouldn't have been in that position...

good teams overcome bad officiating, this team, just isn't good this year, way too inconsistent
Agree, absolutely. The officials are not the reason they lost the game...have to put yourself in a better position than having to rely on Big Ten officials not [censored]ing you the last 90 seconds.

I watch a lot of basketball, and big ten officiating is BY FAR the worst in the country. It plays at least a role in way too many game outcomes.

When your senior leader goes 3-for-12 one weekend and 2-for-12 last weekend, you have problems. Maybe he's not a leader (for starters).

Well, you're being more level headed about it than I am. I agree that a lot of this is on the team, but there is absolutely no question that the refs did everything possible to make this a Mchgn win. There were some unquestionably bad calls in the last 3 minutes. And Sullinger not taking a foul shot? Come on. That's horseshit.

Our play sucked, Buford needs to ride the pine, and we need to find a consistent outside shooter if we're not willing to pound the rock all game.

Outside of that, the league needs to address the officiating, and telling TV Ted and Hightower to get lost needs to be the start of it. Those two bring the rest of the crew with them down. Every B1G I've watched has been bad, but the worst have featured one or the other of aforementioned officials. Across the board horrible, not just tOSU games, but every game.

Amir Williams & LaQuinton Ross

Play them

Start them

It's the only option , The team is struggling on both sides of the floor. We have nothing to lose , With the current 5-7 man rotation we simply can't compete with an elite team in the tourny

Agree with Williams I thought he looked great out there and think a lineup of Williams, Ravenel, Thomas, Smith Jr, and Craft could be very effective.

Some of the worst officiating I have seen this year. Not blaming the loss on it at all since our guys just couldn't hit a bucket, but it was bad. This has been the worst year in recent memory for officiating in the B1G over all the games I have seen, and it needs to be addressed soon.

Not blaming the refs but your entire post is about the refs. Please stop.

We had more FTs and fewer foul calls than Michigan and we still lost. Why? Because we stunk up the joint with poor shooting and too many turnovers.

I can't wait to get out of Big Ten play, just so we don't have to deal with the officials anymore. The no call on Craft at the end, the charges that weren't and, not to mention, Craft was getting stiff armed by Burke the entirety of the last possession.

With that said, the refs were not the lone reason for the loss. We were absolutely dismal on offense. Besides Thomas, nobody could make a shot and it was all one-on-one; no team offense. I hate to say it, but yet again Buford disappeared in a big game. If he doesn't find some semblance of an offensive game by the tournament, we are in trouble.

Do we have Buford's away vs home stats? It seems he's worse on the road? Is he scared of the crowd?

Really? Because he went 2-for-12 at home against Sparty and 3-for-12 against TSUN today on the road

This is a season-long thing for him, it's not home or road.

Regardless, 40 minutes per game for him?

I could care less about seeding. You have to beat good teams no matter what seed you are in the tournament. This team baffles the (mark may) out of me.

Exactly.... And considering the shafting Ohio State has gotten in recent tourney's, it won't matter if they are a 1 or a 4 seed, they are going to have a gauntlet to get through.

I just dont understand what the heck we have to lose in playing other options. Sure, Ross has looked lost on defense, but he can stroke. Williams is a big that can alter shots and clean up on the glass. I'm sure Matta has his reasons, but at this point what we are doing clearly isn't working.

This - OSU played very poorly and certainly deserved to lose - but the calls in the last 6 minutes of the game were other worldly awful - Tv Ted strikes again. At least no Big Ten officials in the real tourney. Not all fouls are of equal value.

Agreed. The Big Ten is the premier conference with a band of officials that are a disgrace. I work with a bunch of Big East grads and it is a running joke how abhorrent the refereeing is in the Big Ten. To me, it feels like some of our regulars like Valentine and Hightower intentionally create controversy. It's nothing new, but it is at a fever pitch.

This team, however, has a lot of improving to do if it wants to get beyond the Sweet 16. And it mostly begins with William Bufford. If he doesn't get it together, I can see this team having a short tournament.
