tOSU -1.5 at Wisconsin (ov/un 122.5) Sat 2 ET, ESPN

Everything seems to point towards a Wisky win. They have more on the line and are unbeatable at home.

But Matta has never won in Madison and the kids will be feeding off of that (and last year's 22 point loss) all week. This is the second time this season OSU has had a chance to make a statement. The first was against Purdue and that turned out OK.

Shut down Taylor and Wisky has an uphill battle regardless of what Leuer does. And we have the players to shut down Taylor.

As for that 0-7 record at the Kohl Center - Wisky kicked our butt last year when we were without Turner. Other than that game they have not beaten OSU by more than 5 at home since the 2002-03 season.

I like our chances here. My biggest concern is that the week off works against us and we aren't in sync from the tip off.

Look for a big game from Thomas. Kid is getting very close to showing what he can do.

i think the key will be limiting leuer and nankivil's attempts behind the arc. this will be a struggle. craft must be on the court in order to guard taylor, so going big without aaron won't be an option too often. like the last game, look for dallas to get expanded minutes. i can see lighty playing really big by guarding nankivil, too.

^^I agree. The Purdue game is evidence..they're a very good team and got straight up destroyed.

I honestly think all we have to do is start just as fast as we did vs Purdue. If we do that we force them to play much faster than they want, and we can then dictate who we allow to get theirs. If they're playing from behind the entire game, the crowd won't be too tough to deal with and all we'd have to do then is tighten up on Taylor since he's really the only one that could win the game by himself.

But we must start fast and get them out of this bullshit "last 15 seconds" garbage. Craft has to stay out of foul trouble to guard Taylor and Sully will likely be doubled most of the game as Wiscy's best game plan is to make Diebler, Buford and Lighty beat them from the perimeter, so our shooters need to be on. IMO, if this game is in the 60-ish possession range and comes down to foul shooting, it could be a rough night in Madison..again.

Now would be a really good time for this team to play its most complete game :oh:

I'd say we played a pretty complete game vs. Purdue - that would probably suffice.

I'm rooting for Thomas to have a big game and get back to more of his early season form- and doing it in a big game at Wisconsin wouldn't make me happier.

But I'm not sure (and probably Matta too) that Deshaun can handle playing defense for 25 seconds every time down the court.

Good post. I was thinking along the same lines. Leuer poses a challenge with his range, I'm not sure Sully or Dallas can cover enough ground to keep him from getting open looks. Whoever is matched up with him will need some help at times, but OSU can't afford to let other players get free shots. Lighty can take some pressure off the big men, what he gives up in size can be made up by being disruptive and preventing the pass.

Craft will have his hands full, and can't count on much help. If he plays D with his legs and avoids reaching in too much, I think he can isolate Taylor and limit the high percentage plays. He needs to play smart and stay on the floor. He also has a chance to make an impact on offense. Aaron, like the rest of the team, has played his best against the toughest opponents. If he can defend Taylor like he did vs. Battle and Moore, there will be no doubt that he is the real deal.

I think it's important that OSU has extra time to prepare for this game. The Buckeyes have the edge in overall talent, but Wisky loves to turn every game in to an unwatchable goon-fest. No coach has made a bigger name for himself by [Mark May]ting on everything good about the game of basketball than Bo Ryan. I expect Wisky's game plan to be built on unnecessary contact, flopping for cheap fouls, stalling, and lots of back-door cuts. Ohio State needs to remain composed, stay out of foul trouble, rebound, deny Leuer the ball, make Taylor take chances, find the open shooter, and make FTs. I think this Buckeye team knows it can be something special, and that this game will in many ways define the season.

This week off comes at the right time ..i thought Aaron may have been hitting the freshman wall a bit the last two games.A week to recharge..won't hurt this team...I've always bought into the a loss might be good 'screw it' take all the way Bucks! :oh:

Dont forget we have six days to prepare for Wisky. We should be rested and have a great gameplan because of it.

This is actually my biggest concern. The last time the team had a break longer than 5 days between games was the IUPU game. If I remember correctly, that was a rather uninspiring performance by the team as a whole. Yes, Sullinger scored 40, but as a whole, probably one of the worst performances by the team this season.

That being said, the IUPU game was at the beginning of the season when the team was still trying to gel or get team chemistry in place. Additionally, this is Big Ten play. I think the team knows that on any given night, they could get beat if they don't bring their best game. I am looking forward to this game, should be a good one.
