Weis' protestations nothwithstanding this was NOT the robbery he implies. End of story.
Weis' next #1 recruit should be Jenny Craig...
The point is, there was only so much fertilizer Weis could spread this year.
Let's review the happy totals after Notre Dame lost its eighth consecutive bowl game. The Fiesta marked the fifth game this season Notre Dame had given up at least 28 points in a game.
In this season of renewal, the Irish beat exactly two teams that finished the season with winning records. To be specific: Probably the worst Michigan team in 20 years and Navy, which after four decades shouldn't count any more. (BYU was the third but lost its bowl game to finish 6-6.)
He never caught it. If he had, it clearly would have been a fumble. He was never down with the ball, and he never recovered it.craigblitz said:A lot of ND fans are crying about the TD that was over-turned after the Gonzo catch. I personally thought it was a catch, but he was down before the ball was on the ground. In college once a knee is down the play is dead. So even if it had been ruled a catch he was down. Anyone else have some opinins on this?
I love how the ND idiots (and their king idiot Weis) are saying it was a TD too...uh, the ball would have been at midfield...where they didn't do squat for 3 quarters worth of football. Sorry, Charlie...not.
I read somewhere that it would have been placed at our 21 with the illegal block in the back penalty...
I think we're thinking of the opposite ends of the field... 35 or 30 sounds about right, back at the 21... maybe I meant to say on their 21? they would have had to drive it 80 yards or so when they got it, maybe that will clear the confusion upI thought they had said the penalty occurred at the 30 or the 35...which would have put it a lot closer to midfield...but I may very well be mistaken on that.
