Game Thread Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State 34, Notre Dame 20 (final)

If everyone pays up.. my little guy should collect about $28 in bets tomorrow.. from ND and scUM fans.. I'm guessing only half pay up... but he's got a year of big time bragging rights...

All I have to say is fuck all the doubters. Troy Smith is a great quarterback who is lightyears ahead of where he was at the beginning of the season. Ohio St. has one of the best if not the best defenses in the nation. Tressel is a great coach and no one can deny it. Troy Smith officially owns Michigan and Notre Dame. I, just like most Buckeye fans, am very proud of these seniors and what they've done for this team and how they didn't let this team give up even when things were bleak at 3-2 but most importantly, they were some of the classiest players you will meet. No we didn't win the National Championship but this was a damn fine season and one I won't forget for a long time. One more thing, HOW 'BOUT THEM BUCKEYES, LOU!?

Not to nitpick here, but can anyone confirm the absurdity of adding 32 seconds back onto the clock after the ND reviewed TD in the 4th quarter? I mean, I'll agree that time should have been put back on once the refs decided it was in fact a TD b/c the clock kept running until they decided to review it. However, I thought only 10-15 seconds ran off. There's no way it was 32 (the clock showed 4:55 and the refs reset the clock to 5:27). Can anyone with a tape of the game confirm this?

ABC's crew just interviewed Troy and JT at the half of the Sugar Bowl. John Saunders started the questioning off by asking Troy something about last year's suspension of the bowl game. I thought that starting the questioning off that way seemed a bit unprofessional (not to mention irrelevant) in light of the fact that it was a year ago that that happened, there have been multiple opportunities for the media to ask such questions, and Troy just turned in an absolutely fabulous performance and probably thought he was going to be asked about this game.

I rewatched it and actually, Walker scored with 5:33 left on the clock. They took the time that the ref marked the ball.

You know he had to ask it, but Troy quickly turned it around by saying last year is last year.

On a side note...

16 carries, 90 yards, 5.6 YPC, 3 TDs

Anyone still think that Darius Walker isn't that good?

No, he isn't that good. All I heard from my ND buddies was how we should be worried about him. He didn't show me anything. I was more worried about Quinn and his passing game with the two receivers that were ilke 6'7" or whatever. They did nothing. Walker only scared me when they had the first drive when he scored that 21 yard touchdown run, but we picked up quickly on him. Good job Bucks and hopefully next year we can go on down to Glendale to a bigger stadium with more seating, and better chances for me to get tickets to see a National Championship. Way to go Bucks, and to end this rant, f*** Charlie Weis! (Not to be mean, but I really disklike him, New England, and the Irish.)

Charlie Weis this, Charlie Weis that, most important, Charlie Weis loss!

"Uh, Brent. Why do you think of Ricky Proehl when talking about Jeff Samardzija? Is Proehl tall? Noooooo. Is Proehl a deep threat? Not really. Hmmmm, what could it be? He does have a Steve Largent/Drew Bennett quality to him I can’t put my finger on."

:slappy:
I was thinking the same thing. Collinsworth would have been a better comparison.

If anybody should be compared to Ricky Proehl, it's Gonzo - due to being the 3rd receiver yet managing to be there to make the clutch catch.
