By BK...getting interest from OSU, Pitt, Cincinnati (verbal offer), Connecticut, West Virginia, Virginia, Iowa, Notre Dame and Penn State...was at the spring game and OSU was at his school recently.

Tom Strobel, an All-Ohio defensive end at Mentor currently being recruited by several Division I colleges ? including Ohio State ? uses some of the band techniques and other methods Bardiwil has taught him to improve his explosiveness.

Not only has the talented 6-foot-5 junior felt the difference as he prepares for the upcoming fall on the gridiron, but it turns out AIM has considerably helped Strobel in at least one area of his secondary sport in his first year training at the facility.

"I could never dunk a basketball before, but now, I am throwing it down pretty good," Strobel said. "Last season, I was getting by, but my muscles got sore a lot. Now, I just feel more explosive, more comfortable off the ball and running down court. And I can dunk now. That should tell you something about what I have gotten out of training there immediately.

"For football, I know this will help my first step off the snap of the ball and increase my explosiveness and my focus."

Mentor High football player Tom Strobel out 2-6 weeks with injury
Tim Warsinskey, The Plain Dealer, September 01, 2010

MENTOR, Ohio - Mentor defensive end Tom Strobel is out between two and six weeks because of cracked cartilage in his trachea, coach Steve Trivisonno said.

Strobel left Mentor's game Saturday against St. Edward in the first quarter with difficulty breathing.

"We didn't realize at the time how serious it was," Trivisonno said.

Trivisonno said Strobel was punched in the neck by a St. Edward player and he referred the matter to Cardinals Athletic Director Jeff Cassella. Cassella declined to comment until the school decides on how it will proceed.
