Tom "Ladies Frames" Crean (HC Georgia Bulldogs)

How's Steve Alford doing?

Better than Tommy Crean.

I think if Noah Vonleh leaves for the NBA his seat will even get hotter. He so underutilized him it was embarrassing. As I mentioned in another thread, Crean was quoted by a color analyst who said that Tommy has told people you just do not come to Indiana to park your suitcase.
Rumors on their boards are that Vonleh pulled himself from late season games because he was banged up and wanted to protect his draft stock. If that's true, it's starting to sound like the inmates are running the asylum.

1) Vonleh is gone.

2) I don't disagree with declining the the CBI games. I mean, c'mon, doubt the Buckeyes would do much different. I agree with Fred Glass that it was simply time to end this season- however the way he did it, well specifically his "We're Indiana" line, was not the right thing to say. Still think he's a great AD.

3) Crean still has next year. It will likely not be a great season and I'm expecting it to be his last. However, James Blackmon Jr. is a special talent. It won't be enough, but it will make his buyout 1 year more manageable. He cannot coach. He cannot manage. He cannot prepare. On top of that he's an average recruiter that gets more credit than he deserves- most anyone could have come in at the time he did, with the resources he had at IU, and simply sold "playing time" and "rebuilding the program" enough to bring in 3-4 top 100 kids. Even now the shine has worn off as he's run many kids out of the program.

4) The guy is a Grade A assclown in so many aspects and he needs to get off Twitter.

I don't know, those extra practices and games seem like they could be beneficial for a team full of freshmen and sophomores. Unless you have a coach who doesn't know how to make the most of that extra time...

Like I heard on the radio yesterday: Indiana has missed the postseason 4 of the previous 6 years. They seem like exactly the type of program that does play in the CBI.

I agree. I know that Indiana thinks that they are too good for the CBI but, as you say, those extra practices would really benefit the younger guys on the team but then you have to mention the coach and that about sums it up.

I guess Indiana State would just have to carry that state's flag when it comes to postseason tournaments this year.

On top of the NBA departure and the 2 scholarship transfers...

The walk-ons (Marlin and Fagan) leaving should tell it all to prospective athletes. When the dudes who do it for the pride of the jersey and love of the school are walking out on the team, you might have a culture issue.

Once again, this guy is a terrible leader that cannot get full buy-in at all levels of a program.
