It would be beautiful for Texas to steal Mack Brown away from a rising UNC a second time.

GuiltyWhat's funny is that 4-5 years ago, after that great first season at Houston, a lot of us hoped Herman would eventually succeed Urban in Columbus.
Dodged a bullet there...
Same. He had an incredible first year in Houston. He apprenticed under Meyer for 3 years. He ran outstanding offenses and recruited very well in Columbus. I thought he had all the makings of another Urban. I truly thought he'd make Texas relevant again.Guilty
I was pondering this today too and was wondering how much Ryan Day has benefitted from the staff infrastructure (largely Mick and Pantoni). Not saying Day would have experienced the same fate as Herman; just extremely fortunate. Honestly my biggest fear of Urban resurfacing in Austin is more losing those two than it is UM rebuilding (building?) the UT brand.Same. He had an incredible first year in Houston. Then he hired Tim Beck.
Oh, no doubt he’s benefitted from the infrastructure that Urban built.I was pondering this today too and was wondering how much Ryan Day has benefitted from the staff infrastructure (largely Mick and Pantoni). Dobbins and JT alone would have madeone hell of a difference down there.I think the biggest thing would be his ability to cut off our cherry-picking of the cream of the crop recruits in Texas. If you go back ten years, that's a huge, gaping hole of talent that we would have missed had most of it stayed in Texas.
On a related note, Surly is apparently in full flight-tracking mode now.
