Tom Herman (Former Head Coach FAU Owls)

I respectfully disagree. As an OSU fan with deep, long standing connections to the Myer family you have an obligation to inform the Surly folks that the reason Tom was retained is because Urban said he needed another year or so before he could take the job at Texas. You know, there’s really a chance!

(Then next year: Rinse, Repeat to see this nonsense play out again!)
The Meyer family as well!

Realistically, I know we'll never know that Urban rejected them if Herman keeps his job, but I'm going to assume that it happens either way.

They'll never accept that Urban rejected them. Never. They'll go to their graves maintaining that he wanted the job but the administration screwed it up at the last minute, just like they do to this day with Saban.

Not just that the administration screwed it up, but that it was somehow an ethical decision by the University of Texas to turn down Urban Meyer. For most of them, the only difference of opinion on this will be whether Texas was appropriately noble, or a little too noble for their own good, in declining to hire Meyer.

To the surprise of no one:

A new website called Austonia, which we previously have never heard of, started a rumor about Meyer’s wife Shelley going to Austin to check out the real estate market. Austin is where the University of Texas is located.

Exclusive: Urban Meyer's wife said to be eyeing real estate in Austin. Could a Longhorns coaching position be on the table? https://t.co/cjmbM2mjel

Is there anything to this rumor? Probably not, but this is a good reminder of a few things. One, expect there to be lots of talk about Texas possibly moving on from Herman. And two, expect more rumors linking Meyer to the Longhorns.

Herman has a hefty $15 million buyout, but we wouldn’t expect that kind of number to stand in the way of the boosters reeling in Meyer if he is interested. Herman has gone 30-18 over four years and has Texas 5-3 this season.

Reminds me of the fall of 2011, when I heard from 2-3 different, unrelated sources that Urban Meyer was looking for houses in Upper Arlington. I think one "source" said he/she knows a guy who knows a contractor, and that contractor was working on a house for Meyer in Upper Arlington. Fixing it up.
A couple of months later (after he was already hired) I heard from someone equally unreliable that he lived in Dublin.

If I were in Urban's family, I would be low key contacting realtors in Austin, Hollywood, State College, Tuscaloosa, Miami..... just to get some stupid rumors going. Of course, I would make sure the one city not on the list was Ann Anbor.

It would be so much more hilarious if that whore up north though she had a chance and then sweep the leg. On the other hand Simple Jim needs a lifetime contract.
