Tom Herman (Former Head Coach FAU Owls)

He's in a state with Jimbo and Urban and others drinking his milkshake. it's not going to be easy.
I'm not totally convinced Jimbo's success at FSU wasn't circumstantial. He was in Tallahassee when both Miami and UF were down. His major competition amongst the FL schools was Al Golden and Will Muschamp. Plus, the ACC was still a bit of a powderpuff. During his best years (2012-14), VT was down as Beamer was doing his best late years Bowden impression, Miami was total garbage and Clemson was still getting its footing under Dabo.

By 2015, Clemson was becoming a CFB playoff regular, Miami was about to hire Richt and FSU was starting to drop off significantly. Hell, you could argue, not unlike Harbrau at Stanford, that if you take away one generational QB talent, he was a good, but far from great coach...

With Jameis: 27-1 (.964)
Without JW: 56-22 (.718)

Plus, aTm, for whatever reason, seems to be one of those programs that has all of the resources to become a national power, but just can never get over that hump.

Nonsense.

You mean to tell me you honestly think a coach can build his entire reputation by lucking out with a generational type QB?

I think you underestimate the intelligence and professionalism of sports journalists who would see through that charade in no time flat. On top of that you really think there are any owners/athletic directors dumb enough to fall for it?

You have a dim view of humanity my friend.

1) Three smartest people in the room: The ADs at Miami, FSU and Clemson who sought out membership in the ACC and not the SEC.
2) Dumbest person in the room: The AD at South Carolina who got pissed at the ACC, especially the referees, during the days of Art Heyman, and pulled SC Lite out of the ACC and into the SEC.
3) The overall strength of ACC football prior to Dabo was brought into full view when Oregon pounded their ass in the Rose Bowl just prior to getting their ass pounded by the Buckeyes.

Hubris is never your friend. As we glide through these incredible years of Ohio State football, it's something to remember.

They're nothing if not predictable in their delusional arrogance.

Listening to cdc I am more than confident this guy will be the one that will fly out to Clemson at seasons end and convince a guy like dabo to come here. Not having a competent AD in place years ago is why we hired Charlie and Herman and not someone that can handle the pressure of being the head coach at Texas.

Yes because Dabo is going to leave a program he has firing on all cylinders while he waits to return to Alabama to succeed Saban (a 100% certainty) to jump into the graveyard of coaches.
