Tebow has led Florida to two national titles

I'm also sick of seeing this.

Tebow didnt lead anything in 2006. I'm quite sure the Gators would have made it their without him TBH - sure he had a few nice plays, but the game was well in hand. I respect the hell out of the guy, great athlete; even better person - but giving someone undue credit just to make their accomplishments seem brighter?!?

and you wonder why you have people "mocking Tebow"...?

I dont like this statement. Tebow was basically their starting RB that year and backup QB. He isnt like Colt McCoy who just sat on the bench and won a NC when Vince Young won it in 2005. Tebow deserves his NC ring just as much as guys like Caldwell, DeShawn Wynn, etc.

Obviously Chris Leak "lead" them to the game, but I honestly think they wouldn't have made it there without him.

I remember Tebow being very important in the LSU game that year.

Guys - I was saying that the writer does you a disservice by his article, and makes you look whiny, when you are indeed on such a program high right now -accomplishment wise - that there is no need to waste bandwidth on a negative Tebow article when your here and now is so damn bright...

No, the writer is just representing what so many people outside of Florida and the national media think. The vast majority of the country is sooooo fucking tired of hearing about the holy entity that is Tim Fucking Tebow.

It will get worse. Season's about here. I almost hope we drop one to LSU to get the hype down. (Winning the SEC and BCSCGs of course. )

It is gagable. I saw the game on I-tunes a few days later, and the Tebow fluffing was pretty horrid. The "Ten Minutes with Tebow..." comment was certifiably vomit inducing.

In your own words, I don't like this statement. He was an important player on the team and certainly deserved his ring, but that's night-and-day from the author saying he 'led them to two titles'.

Tebow had 89 carries for 469 yards that year, while DeShawn Wynn had 143 carries for 699 yards; so I'd say that Wynn was "basically the starter" in '06, not Tebow. One could say he was their short-yardage back, but I'm not buying him being referred to as a starting RB.

As for his passing contributions in '06, taking out the 1-AA Western Carolina game, he was 12-21 for 158 yards, with 3 TDs and 1 interception. 2 of those TD passes were from 1 yard.

Fine starting FB :wink2:

He led the team with 8 rushing TD's. I agree he didn't "lead" the team to the National Title, but I think when you list his resume you have to say he was an important factor in two National Titles.

I would do the same with someone like Ryan Perrilloux for LSU, but someone like John David Booty for USC or John Brantley at Florida I wouldnt put "National Champ" on their resume even though they both have rings.

I mean I have a friend who was a walk-on QB for the 06 Gators, and he has a ring but I don't consider him a national champ. He never stepped on the field.

Well, I already stated that he was "an important player on the team and certainly deserved his ring", but I don't "have to say" anything else.

I believe your probable use of a figure of speech ("you have to ...") stumbled into a pet peeve of mine. When somebody tells me what I have to do, it raises my hackles. And when my post is quoted, and the words 'you have to' are used, it appears to be directed specifically at me, whether that was the intention or not.

I don't think our opinions are too far apart. But I don't have to say one fucking thing you might expect me, or nobody in particular, to have to say.

So fair warning: When one quotes me, one may wish to avoid the use of the phrase 'you have to ...' in one's response. See how I didn't tell you what you had to do? :wink2:

Yeah I don't think our opinions are too far off. I think we are just BSing over semantics. You have to agree with that, right? :wink2:
