His yards for every time he carried the ball were insane but I think his loss is hardly the death knell for the Gator offense like some people make it out to be. It's not like he's missed games before and they haven't marched on without him.

Gator, what are your expectations of UF's offense next year without Harvin?

Is that being overblown, or do you think without Harvin, maybe UF struggles offensively?
We're capable of winning without Harvin, we succeeded in the Alabama game, but that was because of the play of Louis Murphy and our offensive linemen. We lose Murphy next season, as well as Phil Trautwein (OT), Jason Watkins (OG) and Phil Tarrt (OG).

I think Andre DeBose can step in and perform well, but nowhere near the level of what Harvin played on. I think contributions from the running backs are in order to make an appearance to Pasadena next season.

The ending is how I would label it, just shift it to 'win' instead of 'make an appearance'. They proved they could compete in the SEC, but Harvin carried a struggling Tebow on his back for the first 2.5 quarters or so. If he doesn't flip field position from the 5 to midfield (twice), OU probably stops coming up just short.

The defense and Harvin kept that game close until Tebow got it together, just like they beat OSU far more than the O. But it's too complex and not as profitable to celebrate 11+ defenders winning that game, so we hear all about Tebow (who played less than half of a good game) and his two NCs. Tim's a great player, but that was not his finest outing.

Believe it or not, I'm not totally sold on the offense in 2009. We've got the explosive running backs, yes, and some experience wide receivers, as well as a former Heisman trophy winner, but we lose Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy as well as those three offensive linemen that I mentioned.

I'm sure we'll be prepared, I'm just pessimistic at the moment, as I was last year looking at our safety position. (I'm usually wrong at these predictions. Ahmad Black and Major Wright, FS and SS, led our team in interceptions 1-2)

But who's to say we don't struggle again pending another title game appearance? The defense is there, but you have to score points to win football games. Without Harvin we don't have a justified playmaker outside of Rainey and Demps, and we saw OU contain their speed for the most part.

I can't see us winning another hard-fought title next year if it ends up in the same situation, unless maybe we throw Demps or Rainey in the slot as a receiver. (Which didn't work in the SEC CG with Brandon James in the slot)

I couldn't agree more with what you said about Tebow. Both interceptions were both his fault, but give him credit for rallying the troops and not getting discouraged after those two picks.

I think the defense as a whole needs the credit above Tebow. They kept us going and gave the offense the confidence it needed to win it all, what with the two goalline stands and the interception by Black to halt Oklahoma from scoring. (It was obvious they were marching down filed and set to score)

The defense returns every starter next season as well.

why would you play florida at Clemson?

just to give football fans in South Carolina the rare opprtunity to see two good teams on the same field at the same time.

Death Valley is another name for LSU's Stadium, Tiger Stadium.
And if we play them at night, and win at night, then we officially own.

October 10th.
y'all got bragging rights until then.

P.S. you still haven't come forward with that beer we requested on Tiger Forums

I'm giving you guys props. Most Florida fans don't even know we play AT LSU next season, let alone acknowledge how hostile of an environment playing at Tiger Stadium is.

Is the game at night? I'd assume it is, since LSU doesn't even play day games anymore. :tongue2:

LSU very well could beat UF. I expect the LSU fans to give Andre DeBose their worst. Anything less will be disappointing in my opinion... think prank phone calls and Tebow. That's an idea.

And yeah, I have yet to get around to that yet.

HUGE advantage for Florida going into next season
That was one of the major downfalls from 2007, our inexperience at defense following the title season in 2006. I'm glad to see the majority of our juniors on that side of the ball sticking around, and not bolting when they hear of the NFL.

competely up to the networks.
this past season, we played UGA, Bama, Ole Piss, and Arky during the day.

Since CBS has decided it is a good idea to not televise a game in the primetime slot (except 1 weekend per season), we get stuck with more day games than we would like.

Hopefully the LSU/UF game is the one they choose as their only night game of the year (or ESPN picks it up as a night game).

Seriously, what idiot at CBS made the decision to not even try to compete with other networks.
Why would they not want a primetime game every Saturday?

The Gators may have lost Harvin AND Rainey for next year.

At least to me, it looked like Rainey's knee got shredded on that play. I wonder if he'll even be able to play next year, and if so, at what level?

Sure, there are other great playmakers to fill in, but those are the two most explosive players on that offense.

You'd have to be crazy to think that the gators aren't a severe threat for the NC next year. Same defense and Tebow returning...That's a hell of a pill to swallow by just making that statement.
