"never break Hershel Walker's rushing TD record",
1) Who would even think that when looking at a quarterback?
2) After the arcade numbers he put up as a sophomore, I'm thinking you're drastically overstating this "doubt"
"never win the National Championship playing Oklahoma"
I thought about arguing with this one, and then I remembered the laundry list of laughers from heavily favored squads that somehow thumbed their noses at the press over everyone saying they wouldn't win.

No offense Bill....but while I know there is no chance you are wrong on this, I am foolishly going with Gruden and Belichick's estimation over your far superior prognostication abilities.

Freaking filthy Nole. :p
That is easier than actually forming a real rebuttal.

Tebow's mobility is quite average, and that was apparent the last few years.
His arm strength & timing has been questioned by most NFL scouts.

Could he develop into something he wasn't at Florida? Sure, but it's not even unreasonable to suggest that he lacks the attributes of an NFL QB.

As a late first round pick, he could be a steal as a great H-back and occasional wildcat QB... even if he never develops into NFL material at QB.

Happy for Tim and he'll get a good opportunity here, but there was a reason most were surprised when his name came off the board before tomorrow.

I think Tim had a great comment in that interview that he gave immediately after being picked--he only had to make one team want him. I'd be willing to wager that the vast majority of NFL teams thought Tebow was, at best, a third round talent. Heaven knows a lot of commentators thought so. But it only took one team to fall in love with him, and presto, he's a first round pick.

Wow--cfn's first round analysis is pretty harsh on the Broncos' picking Tebow.

25. Denver (from a trade with Baltimore)
Tim Tebow, QB Florida 6-3, 236
Overall Pick No. 25 CFN Overall Ranking: 67

A stupid pick by a stupid team. This is a franchise that thought it could do something with Maurice Clarett (granted, that was the Mike Shanahan era), gave away a proven franchise quarterback in Jay Cutler just as he was entering his prime, traded for Brady Quinn, passed on Dez Bryant for Demaryius Thomas, and then traded up to get a player WHO CAN'T THROW AT AN NFL LEVEL. He proved that in his pro day, and even if you think he can be a starting quarterback with a lot of work and a few years, this is a huge chance to take at the 25. Congratulations, Denver. You just spent the 25th pick in the draft on Jim Jensen.

If your Tim, you have to be happy this morning. Not only do you get first round money, you get to sit behind Orton and Quinn. Spend a year or two learning the system and perhaps play a little bit of Wildcat with Knowshon.

Plus, you get to learn from the guy who got Matt Cassell up to speed - good spot for him to land.

To be sure. I regard this as Tebow's greatest miracle to date.

Even if you assume that his skills translate to the NFL, how does "Guy with major concussion" and "Guy whose primary ability is to run directly into opposing defenders" seem like a desirable combination? I just don't see any logic in this pick whatsoever.

Gruden can't knock any of the 4 QB's he had on his show though. If Gruden really thought Clausen were that good, he'd have been in Holmgren's ear the entire time leading up to the draft.

It's one thing to be put in a position to succeed at the college level, and another to run a pro-style offense in the NFL, after re-tooling your throwing motion. On top of that he has to learn how to read defenses, something he rarely did at Florida, become a pocket QB which he rarely had to do at Florida, and he's going against defensive lineman that are as fast as he is with 30 extra pounds. Personally, I think it's going to be a trainwreck. Ron Jaworski agrees with me...and I wouldn't be surprised at all if its actually what Gruden thinks but cannot say. Gruden also said all 4 (Bradford, McCoy, Tebow, and Clausen) should be taken in the first round and all 4 will be solid NFL starters. Not buying that for a second.....
