Maybe a grad assistant like Jim Cordele would help in that area. He could be on the practice field with Ed Warriner learning from him and then be up in the booth with Beck on game day. Just a thought.....

Yeah, I don't think that's what actually happened, I think incompetence is more to blame. That being said I/we stand pretty far away and it's easy to throw darts from here not knowing exactly the inner workings. I truly do hope the light turns on or somehow this turns around and Beck becomes a top tier coach and proves the naysayers wrong.

I am not saying Warriner in the booth isn't the difference, infact, I am sure I posted something to that effect after the scUM game. My point, of being embarrassed, wasn't commentary on threads here (I haven't picked through this one) but elsewhere on the internet Buckeye fans are spewing a lot of hate, and ignorance. Hopefully that's not the case here as it's one of the things that makes this place better than the rest.

I am more upset with Urban than I am Beck. I mean, why does it take a loss to make an adjustment? It was like watching a car crash in slow motion. The buck stops at Urban, IMHO. I'm not saying I don't love coach - just saying I think he dropped the ball on this. I also think him/Herman dropped the ball against VT '14 and MSU '13 in similar fashion... which is why I am cautioning people from jumping all over Beck.

I mean, do you guys really think Beck ran the game unchecked from the booth? That Urban heard all the play calls, disagreed with them, but trusted Beck to call the game from the sky? That what we saw on Saturdays was more a reflection of Beck than it was the head coach and/or the team itself? It can be argued that key members from the team demonstrated behavior "below the line" this season/pre-season... way more than I recall from '14. Is that on Beck?

Fact of the matter is, we don't - and will never know - who is making the final call on the headset. MSU '13 - remember when Urban said he made the call to run the QB? Half the fans said he was taking a bullet for Herman, and half the fans said Urban overrules play calls. So, which is it? It's pure speculation I guess is what I am saying.

So, in order to keep Warinner from "aggressively" pursuing HC gigs - Urban hired an idiot?

It was my impression, that the OC promotion was what Warinner needed to stay here.. not Tim Beck. I have no doubts that the history between Beck/Warriner played a role in hiring the new QB coach - but - to buy your theory requires quite a few leaps.

there is no question whether urban runs the offense and overrules playcalls. This is his baby. I'm just concerned about whether ed is the right guy to groom burrow if changes were made.

Learning to trust the pass, or remembering that the tight end is a potential receiver, would go a long way to improving the offense. That's not on the underling assistants.

I find this thought interesting Jwins.. is that what you think we saw with Cardale during the beginning of the year.

Don't get me started on the tight ends.
