After watching those two videos it makes me hate him even more. They were definately trying to use more pro style concepts in the passing game, relying on the players to make reads and being in sync on offense. The problem with this is it is unnecessarily too complex for the college game especially with a team as young and atheletic as this team is. There is a reason prostyle offenses dont usually translate into a winning program in college. They might operate fine when the windows are big and the opposition team doesn't have the athletic ability to recover from their mistakes but with better opponents those windows get smaller and smaller.
College defenses aren't as discipline as NFL defenses so it is much easier to anticipate what a defender will do and create a play to exploit it. The ablility to bait and get a defender to cheat down is what Herman exploited in his offense. The timing and anticipation were all built into the play and playcalling. Beck seem to wanted JT and the WRs to make reads and adjust to situations, the problem with this is the reads have to be made and executed in the windows that defense makes their mistakes but before they can recover.
