Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

It really reminds me of Bollman. There is no rhyme or reason to the plays the offense runs.

They're not designed to exploit a weakness in the defense.

They're not designed to build off of other plays (jet sweep motion with a dive, hit the dive until the defense commits to it then hit the jet sweep).

The coaches might as well just be pulling plays out of a hat, which is exactly what I said when Bollman was here.

With four weeks to prepare, the best the offensive coaching brain trust could come up with was throwing it in the flats? Am I missing something the did that was innovative outside of that (which doesn't even count)?

It looked like the exact same offense that struggled against decent defenses all season. Nothing new. No wrinkles.

Like, maybe roll Barrett out of the pocket? Hell, you can even have a counter fake motion off of it to hit if the defense over commits to the rollouts.

Now, JT has arm issues, the OL has issues, and the WRs have issues as well, but isn't part of being a coach recognizing those issues and compensating for them with a solid scheme?

It was just a perfect storm of bad tonight. When JT made a good throw the WR would drop it. When the WR ran a good route JT would make a bad throw. Sprinkle in the OL missing assignments all over the place and it was really, really bad.

As I said, although there were many issues, it all starts with the utter failure of the coaches to come up with a cohesive plan of attack and identity for the offense.

Like, on 4th and 1 maybe don't leave multiple defenders unblocked for read option. Perhaps not the best time for that- maybe everyone just block the guy in front of them and run behind the big guys?

The offensive staff needs to be blown up and that starts with Beck, and probably Warriner too unless Warriner is okay moving back to second fiddle behind a new hire.

Beck has wanted the QB to read the defense so much more than Herman did. The result is there isn't certainty for each player's role on each play. Get someone who will be constantly thinking up plays and talking them through with Urban. I think Urban feeds off having another creative offensive minded coach.

Without a doubt it included Warriner. Both should go and I'm not shy in saying it anymore. It's been two years of the same shit you just wrote of and it's 100% accurate.

What's worse is you see it and we all see it! Yet here we are with these guys.

How tf can he read the defense when the play doesn't even get in until there are ten seconds left on the clock?

i was thinking the same thing for a while this season. but after thinking on it i have to disagree with this completely. simply pulling plays out of a hat would result in far more varied play calling than we have seen at any point over the last two seasons.
I think we should throw it in the flats a few more times. I have a really good feeling that's going to start working soon.

Having listened to Coach Meyer's post-game comments, I think a shake-up on offense is underway, similar to the one on defense a few years ago. There was palpable frustration and disappointment and everyone can see what needs to be done.

Yep. Postgame presser exchange:

"Yeah, coach, 2012-2013, your defense kind of got exploited a little bit - you've spoken ad infinitum about how you had to kind of blow it up, change the culture. Are you at the same situation now with the way this season ended up with your offense?"

Urban: "In some regards, yes. There were some great things this year - some great things - I go back to Norman, Oklahoma, some other great thigns. But anytime you struggle a little bit you always take a hard look."

This is painful watching, fellas. Much love to whoever that was firing away from his right. Does this sound like a guy who has any idea how to fix this offense?

(paraphasing my new favorite media guy)
"what does that even mean?"
"you were better this year? how? why?"
"tell us if this is wrong - seems like JT's less confident/consistent than he was in 2014, before you were here. correct or incorrect statement?"

Presented without comment other than much love to whoever that was firing away from his right.

Holy fuck. I have never disliked this guy more than after watching this bullshit interview. The MF blamed the players. He blamed the damn players. This stupid son of a bitch needs to be gone tomorrow. I can give a rats ass if he can recruit Texas. He can't coach worth a damn. Blamed the players?

Your offense sucks ass and you put NFL caliber guys in situations to make them look inept, EXACTLY like you did last year.

We all talk about the WRs from 2014. We basically had Devin Smith and Even Spencer on a roster full of young guys. What have those two guys done in the NFL? They were good WRs, but they did not make that receiving corp infinitely better than what we have had the past two years.

Here is the WR list from 2014
Dixon FR
Thomas SO
Spencer Sr
D Smith Sr
Mitchell Jr
Ramstetter So
McDaniel So
Campbell So
Epitropolus So
Brown Fr
Clark Fr
McLauren Fr
c Smith Jr
Gwilym Sr
Greene Sr

I dont know how that list of WRs is supposed to have made us so much more efficient passing than what we have now, basically the same exact guys plus some, with the same QB that is only older and should be better than he was a Fr. Seriously?

This guy needs to go and he needs to go now.
