Right there with you. There was just too much talent on this team for them to consistently struggle offensively the way they did. We might finish 12-1 but it will go down as one our biggest missed opportunities of all time. At least in '05, a team with 5 1st rounders, we lost to a loaded Texas team with a generational talent at QB and a strong defensive PSU team on the road in an imposing atmosphere. This year it was to a team that scraped by every week and didn't even have it's most important player, on senior day no less. No NC, no playoffs, no B1G championship, not even a division crown. I gotta stop visiting this thread because it feels like I'm picking at an old scab.

We actually did split the division with MSU but they went to the Big Ten title game because of the head to head.

Honestly, if the East was watered down like the west was this year, there would be no tears. We just happened to be trapped in a division with the best teams in our conference. Any other year and a 1 loss Ohio State team (to any top 5 team) is going to the Big Ten title game/playoffs. We've never been in a situation where we are in such a loaded division that 1 loss bars us from the title game.

Last time I checked, there are still some bowl games being played after New Year's Day. And I can barely stand to watch football right now.
So, no. Haven't moved on. Still waiting on the same platform for a train that is never going to arrive. And I still hate waste.

What if Ohio State had landed Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Sanford instead of Tim Beck?

He went to Notre Dame. Ohio State got Tim Beck.

If that had gone a different way, maybe neither Ohio State nor Sanford would be at the Fiesta Bowl. They might be in the College Football Playoff together.

High school memories outweighed family connections -- or maybe something completely different went into the decision the 33-year-old made to join the Fighting Irish when the Buckeyes were interested after last season.

Sanford's sister once babysat Urban Meyer's children. Sanford, while a backup quarterback at Boise State just over a decade ago, would drive to Utah and sit in on football events while his father, also named Mike, served as Meyer's offensive coordinator at Utah. His mother is still close with Meyer's wife, Shelley.

So much pent up frustration for this guy. How does he ever come out on top? Fickle wasn't in this kind of a hole and he's a far superior coach and an alumni. Oh and Fick didn't deserve to be in a hole anyway. Beck doesn't deserve to be in a hole either I guess. Besides, it's not called a hole anymore when you fill it back up and put a tombstone at the end. Seriously, this guy is probably not the biggest hit in his neighborhood.
