OK, I take it back, I caught most of it. Apparently someone is giving him bad advice or something...defiantly saying you're not going to answer questions of any kind then yelling at the press to stay away from your family makes you look stupid. If you want them to leave your family alone, deflect the attention back to yourself, Tiger.

Textbook apology statement.

He took the blame, and apologized to family, friends, employees, and sponsors.

He said he was in inpatient therapy for 45 days, and will re-enter it tomorrow.

He said "I will return to golf, but I don't know when it will be". It could be this year.

He asked the press to leave Elin and his kids alone, but acknowledged that the interest in them was his fault.

His Mom was there, he talked about her raising him as a Buddhist, but that he drifted away in recent years.

Elin wasn't there. He did state that there was never any domestic violence in his marriage, and that Elin has acted with poise and grace.

He did take a lot of responsibility in the statement, which was smart.

I was surprised he went so far as to say "It might be this year" as well. I figured he'd be back for the Masters...I think he will definitely be back for the summer majors.

To me, it looks like a double. I think he's sorry he got caught, in the sense that he'd still be doing anything blonde he could get his hands on if he hadn't. But since he got caught, I think he's sorry he did it too, especially after seeing what's happened to his reputation and to his family. Definitely don't envy him when he looks in the mirror right now.

seriously? some of those dramatic pauses and sighs were so planned. it was a very, very practiced speech. it wouldn't surprise me if they even focus group tested it.

how many times does someone like that just own up to their problem and apologize for it without some impetus? i agree with you. no one is really sorry for their actions, they are sorry they got caught. after all, what you don't know can't hurt you. in that respect, as long as elin didn't know, he wasn't causing her any pain. now he is sorry that he is causing her pain (i truly believe he is), so he is sorry for his actions.

Tiger sucks in the Ryder Cup anyways. Maybe they'll get in his head and he'll actually try....since he never tries for anything that can benefit anybody other than himself anyways.
