Tiger Woods (Offical Thread)

I'm just wondering how much different the reaction to this would be if Rocco had made that putt on 18 during the playoff on Monday.

Media folks are cranking up the hyberbole, such as "Tiger was literally playing on one leg all weekend" (hey, that explains him hopping for over 36,000 yards). Would they be saying the same things if he had lost?

I'm not sure. I think we'd be hearing a lot of "was it worth it?" And, quite honestly, that's probably a question that we should be hearing now. What Tiger did was extremely impressive, but I hope we all don't look back on this day and think about what could've been.

Quick question:

Is he still the man?

Winning a major and having to play 91 holes to do it, a few days before having major knee surgery...I think that answers your question.

I still can't get over the fact the guy just won the US Open with a torn ACL and a double stress fracture in the same leg. Also worth note is how he handled the pain and injury as contrasted to, oh, say, a certain beeotch basketball player from Boston here recently.

Media hype aside he was essentially playing on one leg and they still can't beat him. If "the field" didn't realize what a huge gap exists between Tiger and them before, they certainly do now.

Amazing.

Els was crushed after ACL surgery. This may take a real comeback. What the heck is he doing to get that kind of stress fracture? Running hills with 50lbs on his back?

You can get a stress fracture by pushing it too hard too fast. If your calves feel weak, its probably not a good idea to push it any further, because then all of your weight will starting bearing down on your tibia and fibula.

I've had two stress fractures from running myself. Its painful, but 6-8 weeks of pure rest will do the trick. It's the knee surgery that's keeping him out.

My aunt and uncle live with Tiger down in Flordia - he hired her away from a Cleveland firm to be his personal assitant

Anyways, Uncle Joe was saying at Easter that he has many other interests outside of golf and told us to look for him to be retiring sometime in the near future, as in the next couple of years
