You don't technically have to buy them... but if you don't, you're missing out on a lot of XP per season.

To qualify for the masters you have to be in the top 100 or do the Masters Moments thing.. I don't really have any interest in the Masters Moments thing. I qualified in the top 100, I'm 94, but I had to win the three tournaments I was in before the Masters to get to 94.

Pretty lame from EA. Love the game though.

Well, I wasn't going to buy this...but now I'm convinced.

I've been traveling a shit ton for work, so my opportunities to golf have been limited. If this game has as much potential as it sounds, I'll love it.

gonna trade in COD: BO, Tiger 11, and Killzone 3 for this and Socom...and the Move :)

Amazon is offering $30 for COD, $15 for T11, and $37 for KZ3. So, $82 towards the $60 Tiger 12, $60 SOCOM 4, and I think the eye/Move controller combo is like $75/$100.

Fuck it, bring on Augusta!

Yeah, that part of it really blows. Not only do you have to buy courses, but you have to buy courses to continue to even play the main component of the damn game. I haven't played it much since I found out that little tidbit.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. Players don't play in EVERY tournament during the year. And it's only what 4-5 tourneys they want you to buy courses for? You DON'T have to buy the courses, so it's not a big deal IMO.

Hmmmmm, smells like another class action lawsuit against EA, shocker.

I cannot continue playing the game because I am not qualified to play any PGA tournaments without buying them.

I am assuming the solution is to qualify for Augusta through the "Masters Moments" thing which has be referenced previously, but it is still an exceedingly lame situation to put the player in.

Wait, I was under the impression that you would just skip the tournament instead of buying the course.

For example, if there are 25 tournaments a season, you would not be able to play 5. That shouldn't keep you from moving forward though, at least not to my understanding.

EA has always had a shit ton of DLC for their golf games, now they are making it more obvious in the hopes that casual gamers will spring for it because they think they have to.

That is not true at all. Some tournaments you will not qualify to play in right away because of your golfers ranking (it being too low initially). For example I didn't qualify for the VERY first tournament because I hadn't won a tourney yet, well duh I hadn't played in a tourney yet. So you have to SKIP those until you meet all requirements. They AREN'T forcing you to buy extra courses. There's only a few that require a DLC course, and you can just skip those tournaments.

Theres no "I can't continue playing the game because I am not qualified" just skip those, and you'll probably have to wait until the following PGA season to play in those tourneys.

Correct. Correct. And correct.

Okay, so apparently by skipping tournaments you can eventually get to something that you can play. When you initially start, however, everything is locked except for the first tournament, which you aren't qualified for.

It sure as hell seems like your only option is to purchase something, which is probably the intent. While not as lame, still pretty lame.

I don't think so, the PGA has restricted tournaments during the year and being as you just got out of Q school you aren't going to be in the top 100 in rankings. So I don't think you should qualify for bigger tournaments right away because of that.

However, do I agree with you having the 1st tournament locked because you haven't won a tournament (no kidding it's the 1st one) and that being lame? Yes. IMO they should at least have the first 2 or 3 unlocked then get into qualifications/requirements for tournaments and then The Masters shortly after.

So, heres what I'm doing:

I already planned to purchase SOCOM 4, but had decided against the Move for that game.

$60

Now, I would like Tiger 12 AND the Move.

Game - $60
Move - $93.99
Nav - $29.99

All that together comes up to $213.99

Now, if I buy the SOCOM "Full Deployment" bundle, it comes with everything above AND the sharpshooter attachement.

Bundle - $149.99

Tiger 12 - $60

that comes to $209.99, $4 less than buying seperately PLUS i get the sharpshooter thingy for "free".

I'm so excited, only downer is I have to wait until the 19th now...thats when the bundle ships.

Good lord, Sheshan (DLC) with expert pins is unplayable. Some of the pins were on a slope, and I shot 78 and then 80. I had I dont know how many 4 putts. If you didn't make the putt, it was either by the hole 20 feet or it would roll back to you. Very frustrating
