Zantigo is ... err... was a much better Taco Bell.
OMG, yes! It's a shame that TBell is the one that survived. No question Zantigo's food was much better. Used to be one just off Hudson north of campus.

Are you guys really old or did I just miss out?OMG, yes! It's a shame that TBell is the one that survived. No question Zantigo's food was much better. Used to be one just off Hudson north of campus.

The old Zantigo chain was owned by Kentucky Fried Chicken. When KFC was bought by Pepsi in 1986, they decided to close Zantigo since Pepsi already owned a taco chain, Taco Bell. So most Zantigo stores were converted to Taco Bell in 1987 or simply closed.
The Minneapolis-St. Paul chain Zapata started using the name Zantigo in 2001. According to that company, they are using recipes of the old Zantigo, but there is no way to know that for sure. Presumably Pepsi (and its successor YUM! Brands) would want to keep those out of the marketplace to avoid competition to Taco Bell.
I can tell you for certain that shipping hamsters in a FedEx box turns out to be a very bad idea, especially if it is for a little girl's birthday.Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Sadly, Zantigo does still exist. Just not in our market area.
According to the always-infallible intranets:
Damn you, Pepsi! Bad call! Bad call!

Now I wish I knew someone in Minneapolis. Wonder how well tacos would hold up in a FedEx box...
Just had a bologna sandwich with mustard.
Not that fancy Giant Eagle bologna that is hand sliced by what I assume are french chefs in their "deli". Just oscar meyer.
