Wow! That's a lot of kids to walk!

When I was 11 I was in a game (winning side) that went 2-2/3 innings. Final score was 33-0. Starting pitcher couldn’t get anything over the plate and the other pitcher on the team had pitched his innings for the week so he couldn’t take the mound. They, no joke, went through every player on the team at the mound in that game and it continued, as you’d suspect, to get worse as the game went on.

You pretty much got in the batters box and if you didn’t get hit by one of the first four throws, you had a walk. There was one poor kid who threw a marshmallow over the plate and it went for a grand slam.

And thus was my experience with baseball. If I never saw another out, I’d be OK with it.

We beat Butlerville 39-0 once. There was a class clown on their bench that shouted out, "C'mon guys! We got them right where we want them. We can come back." It was 20-something to zero at that point.

The funniest thing was one kid on my team (same game as above), who was terrible, slung his bat and pumped his fists on his way to first after getting walked. He struck out the rest of the time against them.

When I was 13, coach told us he'd take us all to Dairy Queen if we threw a no-hitter.

We won 12-11 with me pitching. I was sick about the game. Ended being a no-hitter after all because of 6 errors and 5 walks. We had no idea.

2nd basemen alone had 5 errors allowing 7 runs. Coach made to whole team run laps around the field post game except for me because they played like shit behind me and he felt bad

Still took us to DQ though .
The one in Fultonham had the best dilly bars.

I had a great little league coach, he told us pitchers to stop trying to throw the ball through the backstop and just pretend you're playing catch with the catcher, hit your target. None of us walked many batters at all. I do remember games though where the opposing pitchers couldn't get even near the plate and you just went up there like you said, try not to get hit for four pitches then take your base. I hated those games and luckily there were very few of them. The last one I remember was Babe Ruth, the 14-15 year old league, the opposing pitcher was the coach's son and he left him in all 5 innings and we won something like 15-0, game ended after 5 innings because of the 10 run lead rule.

I've been on this website 20 years and its pretty stark that most liked post will be something for which I have no credit to take.

Sounds about right!

It's also difficult to express how proud I am. Thanks for all your well wishes in PM etc

The girl has decided her first shot at a major is going to be forensic anthropology....

Right now she's torn between Ohio and Ohio State. Being that she's my hippie child, she seemed more in her element at Ohio but we're going to be going to Ohio State for a visit sometime this spring.

She has some other schools that she's looking at but those two seem to be the leaders in the clubhouse.
