I am currently reading David Simon and Ed Burns' book The Corner. For us Wire fans, this book is a must read.

I read the first half of the book to get my fix in between watching Seasons 4 and 5 of The Wire. It's pretty gripping stuff.

You'll be able to get a feel that much of The Wire really paints a more accurate picture of Baltimore from 15 -20 years ago (not that this fact takes away from the show).

I need to go back and read the Corner in its entirety now that the show has been laid to rest.

Have you picked up a copy of this yet DaytonBuck?

David Simon also wrote a book called Homicide worth checking out. In this book, Simon was given full access to the BPD for a year. Interestingly enough, one of the main characters in the book is none other than Jay Landsman.

The real Jay Landsman is Dennis Mello on The Wire

Really starting to miss The Wire. The last season may have been my favorite though the best season-ending montage goes to season 2, hands down.

I miss it too. I still think season 3 was my favorite although the last two were phenomenal as well. I have been trying to fill the void left by The Wire with Mad Men, but it just is not the same.

Everyone I talk to about the show disagrees with me on this but I really like the second season show. I think it speaks to how good the show it is completely shifts entire focus in one season but stays within Simon's world. I thought the union stuff and the grain pier was really interesting. It was cool to see Barksdale org operate without Avon.

I thought Ziggy's douchebag level made him funny

I'm just 3/5 of the way thru season 3, but I see why S2 is seen as the weaker. S1 and S3 both came out of the gate strong. S2 started off kind of slow and unfocused, but recovered really well. It took about half the season to come together. I think the problem was the best thing about the show is how well the core of the cast interacts. In the first part of S2, they were split up, and the union/greek story took a while to develop. Second half of S2, the whole crew was brought back together, and the dynamic returned. S3's been awesome so far, love the Hamsterdam story.
