The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

They saved the episode at the end, because not much happened for about 45 minutes. The Maggie/Glen thing is either going to lead directly to a death next week, or else it was pointless to waste that much time on it at this stage. Merle did sort of go Nester in Missing in Action II, but he didn't kill any of the main Woodbury characters it didn't look like. With 9 deaths (8 Woodbury and Merle) that leaves 18 for next week, so apparently there will be some sort of shootout or ambush or something. I imagine they will keep the Governor character alive for next season (and Rick as well) so it is then just a matter of who gets knocked off. Should be a hell of a show though.

I think the biggest death was that of the kid from Tyreese's group. He's the one that walked in front of the Gov as Merle was scoping him. He was also the one Merle was feasting on in the end. So that kid's dad will probably go off the deep end next episode.

So were they going somewhere with this? What I mean is, it looked like Merle the zombie actually "recognized" Darryl before he went after him...just they look, the pauses, the subtlety of it...maybe I am reading way too much into it, but it almost seemed like they were trying to reinforce the concept of people "still having some of their human" in them after turning...???

Hard to predict who they kill off now. Maybe we've already seen it. I love making Merle a zombie! That was hilarious! :chompy:
My wife thinks that Glen is next but I think Maggie is do for an ugly kill off to end the season.
This season has been the best yet.

Didn't catch that was him...good pickup. Yeah that will likely lead to some sort of Tyreese conflict where the girl dies and he switches camps after killing the dad...or something to that end.

Agreed....but not either of theirs. I think Herschel bites it.

Could be old pogo stick for sure, but I could see him being Rick's nemesis after the Governor bites it as well...if Maggie were to die (and espeically if the daughter that never does anything dies too), I could see him developing into a bitter old sadist type. Now I know that would likely deviate from the comics, but that doesn't mean anything, as a lot of the arc does. Either way, they will have to do something with his character, because the neuveau Dale thing has run its course. He either needs to die or darken.

I think Hershel is one of the casualties. Love his character, but I think they have got about all the character progression they can out of him. Darryl is going to definitely kills some cats and get vengeful. I could see Carol sticking around so Darryl has a slampiece for a bit. I'm thinking one of Maggie or Glenn gets it as well. Beyond that, no idea...in the other camp, I expect a few lesser characters to go (that Martinez guy and the one dick that hates the bearded black guy for some reason, if I had to guess).

Should be a good finale for sure but this season has been all about fearing humans more than zombies, which to me is markedly less interesting. I still enjoy the show, but the zombies don't even strike a fear in you anymore...it's almost as if the characters ignore them now, or just kill a whole heard routinely.

Side note: I really like how they did the Merle turn...I definitely noticed it looked like he recognized Darryl at first. This glimmer of recognition has manifested itself before and I think has been a subtle consistency of the show that is interesting. Only real complaint is that he got nobody major...killed some kid that the host of Talking Dead had to tell me the name of. Still did some major damage though.

My guess is that Herschel somehow falls on a grenade to save his daughters and Glen. I think that was set up by some of the dialogue and the Scripture reading which, I think, hasn't been shown at all or at least not been emphasized before. Also, the scene in the cell where he gave Glen his blessing seemed like foreshadowing that now he'd be moving on because he could count on someone to look after his girls.

They're not going to blow up the Maggie and Glen couple. TWD has been getting women viewers and, right or not, they'll think that they've got to keep M&G to keep that going. I wouldn't be surprised if the they're the two left standing in the series finale.

I hate them for nothing more than putting on that fucking dweeb yelling something dumb right after a very important moment in the show. Ruins the entire atmosphere that you get yourself into when you're watching.

I generally watch it after a more fundamental episode or when an important guest (say the shows producers or a main character) is on. Gives some pretty good insight on some things I normally don't catch during the show. For example, Merle was on this week and to be honest, his personality didn't seem that far off from the character. Also, they usually give a more extended sneak peek of next week's show.

I actually find Hartwick (the host) pretty funny but he is a hardcore fanboy and never asks more hard-hitting questions. On the more routine episodes I usually skip it. Usually the show could be half an hour but they drag it out to one hour. In short, yes I generally think it is a good show.
