The Spring Game: Saturday, April 16, 2022

just under 55,000 tickets sold + students who don't need tickets.. would love to see 100,000 but weather might not be the best
Yeah, weather is usually a factor. They pack the place when it’s a warm, sunny day. They get a lot of walk-up ticket buyers.

I’d like to share a quick anecdote. This was back from the Tressel era. I brought a notepad with me so I could take notes on the game and report on it. But I forgot to bring a pen. So I stopped by some room in the stadium where they had a first aid facility set up, I think it was probably on B deck, and asked if anyone had a pen I could borrow. Some nurse gave me one. After the game, I brought it back and returned it to her and said thanks. I don’t know if she thought she’d ever see it again but I’ve always been proud of that. Because that’s what Buckeyes do. :)

Listening to the pregame coverage on 97.1 The Fan. They’ve got Dwayne’s initials on the field. They haven’t mentioned helmet stickers but I think I heard the other day that that would happen. There will be a moment of silence. There will be a tribute video shown at the end of the first quarter. They haven’t said whether the moment of silence will be before kickoff or before the video. I’m not sure how you make that call. In one way I think you don’t want to start the game without paying respect, but more people would be there to participate if you wait until the end of the first quarter. I’m not sure one way is better than the other. If I were making the choice, I’d go with the moment of silence before kickoff. Stretch out the remembrance and the tribute that way.
