The Spring Game: Saturday, April 16, 2022

STOCK UP
KYE STOKES
JORDAN HANCOCK
BACKUP RUNNING BACKS
SECOND-YEAR DEFENSIVE ENDS
TIGHT END DEPTH

STOCK DOWN
JULIAN FLEMING’S “HEALTHIEST SPRING”
MITCHELL MELTON’S MOMENTUM
OFFENSIVE LINE DEPTH

Meant to also point out the TE play, which was very good. Royer I especially think can be a weapon to sprinkle in this year. Natural pass catcher and a size mismatch that brings a different skill set to the position imo. But I won't have my same post-Spring Game naivety that we're actually going to throw to our TEs more.

TEs looked really good, mainly Scott Jr and Royer, but I think because the DBs were doing such a good job on the WRs and RBs. I think the coaches saw something in Royer and Scott(and it helped getting Stover back) and didn't feel losing that OU TE to fake USC was that big of a deal. A room that was seen as a ?, can now be seen in a positive light.

Despite all the talk about the defense being better than expected and talk about the depth of the defensive line, the safeties and corners, the sacks, and the PBUs, I am disappointed that Williams got 7 yards a carry and Pryor got 8 yards a carry.

Some say ND will have a good offensive line and a newer QB.

Here's hoping Knowles has a plan to stop the run.

SAFETIES
Andre Turrentine: 106
Kye Stokes: 91

EXTRA POINT/FIELD GOAL BLOCK
Andre Turrentine: 6
Kye Stokes: 5

Turrentine and Stokes played the most snaps among all spring game participants as Turrentine played every snap Proctor did not play at bandit and Stokes played every snap Hickman did not play at adjuster, including all 56 plays in the second half.

Day didn't start out so good. But became nice.
I did say that it would be fine by kickoff and it was. It was still cloudy and gray (only when talking about OSU do I use that spelling, all other times I spell it “grey”) but the sun came out in the 2nd half. But if the game had been played this past Saturday then there would’ve been a much bigger crowd.

College football's highest-attended spring games of 2022

4. OHIO STATE: 60,007

The first Ohio State spring game with unrestricted attendance since 2019 was a rather emotional one, given it took place shortly after the tragic death of former Buckeyes quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who died April 9 after being struck by a vehicle on a South Florida highway. Ohio State delivered an emotional video tribute to Haskins during the spring scrimmage on a day in Columbus which football at times took a back seat to that matter. Nonetheless, a strong contingent of the Buckeye faithful got a glimpse of what is set to be another talented Ohio State team this fall after the Buckeyes went 11-2 and won the Rose Bowl this past season. Ohio State was just one of four schools to draw 60,000 or more for its spring game.
