The Sopranos (Bada Bing)

That ending made no sense!
Threat of a hit, while the family is close to him?
(Which we don't see because the movie is coming)
Payback for Phil's skull getting popped like a grape while the young kids are in the backseat?
(Which we don't see because the movie is coming)
Accidental killing of Meadow in the course of trying to off Tony.
(Which we don't see because the movie is coming)

Makes sense to me because it is all about
Possible plot lines - (Which we don't see because the movie is coming)

I didn't know they were making a movie. When is it coming out?

All that and we still don't know who ended up taking over in New York. Would it be Little Carmine or the short guy?

They still don't know where Uncle Junior's stash is or if he even knows himself.

Sil is still alive, but until there's a funeral anything can happen....

And, of course, that Russian is still out there.

they aren't for sure, it is just being discussed.

Couple of articles on the same -
MSNBC - Before the season started
Deadline Hollywood - Recent Article

My take - if the movie idea was stillborn Tony would not have made it out of this season, or if alive more of the story lines would have been tied up.

The open end segues - perhaps less than neatly - into whatever Chase et al wish to bring to the big screen.

I guess then I am the only one who thinks that episode was brillant. From the start this show has been about family all be it a screwed up family but family.

T getting his "family" under control and safe with the elimination of Philly and the potential setting in place of Little Carmine or the short guy. His "family" is not really as set as he thinks, Paulie is still out there a little crazy like. (if there is a movie he goes nuts on the cat and T clears him out)

As for the last scene it left us on pins and needles. We will forever be asking the questions what happened after the end of the show. Did T get whacked by the guy in the bathroom? Did Meadow get it instead? Why was she running into the diner did she have news about what the Dr. said?
As for AJ does he work or just become the bum that he is turning into?

As for final episodes go this one destroyed Seinfeld.

Add me to the list. They kept you on the edge of your seat the whole episode - to the last second. Then they left you either satisfied or unsure depending on your mindset. And perhaps most importantly from a $ perspective, opened up the possibility for future considerations.

Best series ending I have seen in a while. Maybe ever.

I guess you have to give them credit for sticking to their guns. Every episode the last two seasons it seems have left you saying, man nothing happened but next week is going to be sweet. This episode was no different. Except this time, there is no next week. I, for one, am not a fan but I can see why some liked it. Personally, I think its a bullshit way to end the series. There are a lot of people out there that have watched every episode since the beginning and I feel they deserve a better finish than what they got. The following article does bring up a good point that I didn't consider. When T was talking to Bobby about death they said you wouldn't know it happened. Everything would just go black.

I read on Drudge that HBO's website crashed after the show was over becuase of a flood of angry subscribers.

THAAAT'S What We Were All Waiting For? Angry 'Sopranos' Fans Crash HBO Website

The line to cancel HBO starts here. What a ridiculously disappointing end lacking in creativity to The Sopranos saga. But if you're one of those who found it perversely interesting, then don't bother to read on. Even if David Chase, who wrote and directed the final episode, was demonstrating the existential and endless loop of Tony's life or the moments before the hit that causes his death, it still robbed the audience of visual closure.

And if it were done to segue into a motion picture sequel, then that kind of crass commercialism shouldn't be tolerated.

That may have been one of the funniest episodes this show has had--from the head-squishing (and following reactions) to Paulie and the cat to terrible driving from AJ/Meadow and Agent Harris' Austin Powers-like chest hair. I really didn't need to see David Chase's horseface of a daughter making an inexplicable cameo, though.

Grades notwithstanding, I don't think AJ could ever make it into OCS with his history of panic attacks.

Junior's scenes were heartbreaking.

I agree. Plus this is the only way they could have ended it without a million people saying "I told you so..."

I, for one, didn't want the series to end with Tony (predictably) dying or (equally predictable) becoming a snitch. The Family lives on and goes out nearly the same as it all started, only grown up. The only thing I'm mad about is that the series is all over, unless...

...can you say spinoff???

I have spent 9 years watching this show, religiously. To have it end like that, makes me want to shoot someone. Unlike most, I can see why you would have an ending like that, but I absolutely do not like it. For a series finalie, and especially for a series as big as the Sopranos, that was complete crap. Very very disappointed. No closure at all.

You were counting on AJ to make a rational assessment of his chances going into OCS? Guy couldn't find a safe parking space for his yellow toy.
The burn-up of the SUV to the plaint of "It's All Right Ma ..." was hilarious.

Sure were. Lost power, lost memory, lost dignity. Lost everything.

I think the one important thing that the end of this episode outlined clearly, that many of you may not have noticed, but I did, is that women can not park their cars to save their life.

Seriously though, was I the only one cheering when Phil got capped?
