The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

Just want to throw this out since Smart declares an injustice if UGA isn’t in the top 4...

You had a “neutral” home game vs Bama for your conference championship. You lost. You aren’t the champ of your own conference. You don’t get to lose, whine on tv and get another shot. You would be 4 and get Bama again? Immediately after? No.

“We played for best in our conference and lost. Now let us have them for best in the country. It’s only fair. In fact, it would be an INJUSTICE not to!”

And I don’t think the Bucks get in and that’s fine. At least they were conference champs. I didn’t like getting in after not playing in the B1G title game a couple years ago.

It is going to be Bama, Clemson, ND and OU. That is a guarantee. All the debate is a waste at this point.

Couldn’t agree more. What happened to conference championships being viewed as an elimination game / quarterfinal? I’m not tuning into the 4 hour spectacle to hear Herbie stump for Georgia again. Win the games that matter, not lose both of them. tOSU is heading to the rose bowl to play UW. Saving everyone 4 hours of doucheness on ESPN...

The only thing that really matters anymore is to not lose. Everything else except the bad loss is Ohio States advantage like SOS, SOR and top 15 wins

An early loss can still land you in the playoffs. An early blowout loss to a 6-6 team cannot unless chaos reigns supreme.

The thing is, the coaches knew how badly a blowout loss can hurt your chances from the previous year. Still didn’t have them ready to prevent it.

I think they need to reevaluate the goal of the committee. It shouldn't be to find the '4 best teams'. In a league with 130 something teams and only 12 games and very little inter conference play that is impossible to find. Their goal should be to set up matchups that will allow them to find the single best team at the end. What we know right now:
Bama is the best team in the SEC (and Bama is better than Georgia)
Oklahoma is the best team in the B12
Ohio State is the best team in the B10
Washington is the best team in the P12
Clemson is the best team in the official ACC
Notre Dame is undefeated and may be the best team in the unofficial ACC.

Knowing those facts any acceptable solution would be one where 4 of those 6 teams are in. It's not the P12 or B10 team's fault that every time they played each other their overall rankings went down. Good for the SEC that every time they played each other their overall rankings went up. But those are just the results of peoples opinion. Is Bama better than Oklahoma? Who the fuck knows. They didn't play and have zero common match ups. Is Oklahoma better than OSU? They had one common match up and Oklahoma was better. So I'll give them that. Is ND better than OSU or Clemson or even UCF? They have several common match ups and ND looked worse in all of them. Yeah, we need a 6 team playoff with auto bids and a 6th spot for the best of the G5 and unaffiliated. This makes it a real tournament.

Does Bama get left out? No.
Does undefeated Clemson get left out? No.
Does undefeated ND get left out? No.
Does 1 loss Oklahoma who is a conference champ that also avenged their only loss and is sitting right behind a UGA team who just lost? A UGA team that isn’t a conference champ and has 2 losses? No. Not even left out for Ohio State who is a conference champ with only one loss but a way worse loss and already behind them. Oklahoma is in. Suck it ESPN.

What are those bigger wins? Notre Dame's opponents have 9 more wins than ours, not to mention they're undefeated, and they're shit. So how did we prove we're better? Michigan? TCU? Penn State? Who are these awesome wins? Did the Bucks beat half of the top ten and I missed it? I think the Bucks would beat ND, but that means nothing. I also think Bama would romp over our defense, and I'm not so sure about Clemson. So what is the difference maker I'm missing?

It's like deja vu all over again. Our Bucks shit the bed by 4 touchdowns to a middling B1G team and people expect the CFP committee to pretend it didn't happen.

Wanna a CFP bid? Don't lose by 31 to 7-5 Iowa. Don't lose by 29 to 6-6 Purdue. It's no mystery why we were left out last year, and probably will be this year.
our wins are very clearly better and now you’re just playing a role. Kicking the absolute shit out of Michigan is enough to beat anything OU, ND, or Clemson have put together. Winning at Penn State is also better than anything they’ve done. So if you put all of our games into a pile and ranked them, we have #s 1, 2, and whatever last place is. Why is it we ignore 1 and 2 and only look at Purdue. I’m not saying ignore Purdue, I’m saying look at the wins, too.

So basically all the predictors that go off of the statistics put us in. But essentially every talking head (correctly) has us out.

One bad quarter away. Take care of business against the Huskies and probably end up ranked #3 behind Clemson and Bama. Funny writing that out - such a disappointing result, but looks so good on paper.

It's even more frustrating when you consider both of those games were against the other division of our conference. If we're SEC we don't play that game. We swap them out for Dayton.
