Michael Jordan didn't have 4 to 5 second hang time, dude. Come on.
The ground can't cause a fumble because the player has established possession of the ball. You have to complete a catch to establish possession. And the goal line makes no difference. Image a ball hitting a player in the hands, beyond the goal line and then falling immediately to the ground, with no additional attempt to secure it. That's not a catch and it would be completely obvious to you it was no catch. It's the same thing. The ball being merely between one's mitts doesn't render it a catch. Nor does it render it a catch in the endzone.

Oh, there have certainly been bad calls. Even on replay. This one, however, wasn't one.
I love the breakdown... Dr. J maybe on the hang time.....

I wonder what the outcome of an LSU-OSU championship game would be if Cleveland or Cincy were the host?

or Indy, Detroit, etc.

i get it on the location as far as travel time, comfort and convenience, etc. I completely understand and agree with y’all on that one.

but this constantly harping in game having to be played outdoors in a blizzard makes y’all sound like you need the weather to help.

the weather inside the superdome was not beneficial to either team. would not have benefitted either team had it been tOSU in one of the spots.

I agree the Dome is a HUGE advantage for LSU. But it ain’t because of the weather during the game.

It’s because we take a bus instead of a plane.
It’s because a large chunk of our team is from that city and can go eat a fresh hot meal mom cooked for them. And those types of conveniences.

I wasn't thinking of either the weather or the trip, I was considering it a home game for LSU like it would be a home game for OSU if for some reason Skyline Chill coughs up the dough to host the game in Cincy lol. That is a big advantage IMHO.

So, we brought the overturning of the scoop-and-score and the bullshit "targeting" penalty on ourselves? Look, I agree that it's over and done with and we need to move on and acknowledge LSU as the right champion, but also don't act we didn't get fucked by a shitty, overzealous reply official.
What the fuck is a "reply" official?

i agree completely on it being a home game.
I get it. And absolutely see that argument. It’s a legit complaint.

I don't think anybody was harping on weather here....but I think you're wrong. A B1G team needs to be built to be able to win in 20 or below in November. It's not by choice, it's by necessity. Then you gotta take that team and put it in warm weather against a warm weather team. LSU doesn't need to build a ground and pound team bc it's never going to be forced to play a ground and pound game. B1G schools often are.

That's not to say this is a huge swing one way or the other....just that it's a thing that exists. It's minorly difficult to build a speed team in the B1G, because your last games could be played in Michigan or Minnesota where it might be 10 degrees...and you're going to need to win those last games if you want to earn the right to play LSU in their back yard.

Again....emphasis on this not being a big thing. It's just a thing.

Holding on to the ball while in the air for 4-5 seconds seems like possession. He wasn’t bobbling the ball. I get it when he hit that the ball moved. It’s also funny in that the ground can’t cause a fumble.

I’m not arguing against the call. I assumed it was coming back. I just don’t agree with what is considered possession in some of these cases.
The ground can cause a fumble, although that's not what happened on this play, the ground caused an incompletion. But it caused a fumble to Jalen Hurts and a couple of other guys this year, when the ball itself hit the ground before any non-foot, non-hand body part. Just because idiot announcers say something for decades doesn't make it a rule.

Dobbins was in the air as he made contact with the ball. As he was coming down, he got 1 foot down, then crossed the goal line then hit the ground and the ball moved, so he didn't complete the catch. Replay was correct on that play.
