We lost because we kick three field goals in the first half when we were in the red zone. Not because of screwing. We brought that shit on ourselves.
like I said.. the team didn't play perfectly. there were areas that could have gone far better. That does not change the fact that the team played well enough to beat their opponent.

So, we brought the overturning of the scoop-and-score and the bullshit "targeting" penalty on ourselves? Look, I agree that it's over and done with and we need to move on and acknowledge LSU as the right champion, but also don't act we didn't get fucked by a shitty, overzealous reply official.

We lost to a team that didn’t come close to beating LSU. We had a chance. We had everything we needed with a spot in the playoffs. If we didn’t make it to the playoffs, I could see being bothered, but we did make it. And we lost. I’d agree that we didn’t play our best game. So what. We lost. And that dreaded conference again had the team that won. Oh well.
Yeah but you're treating it like games are played in a vacuum. We probably get a chance to rest Fields after OU shits all over the field on us, so he'd be a bit healthier than he was. They'd be a bit weaker after getting knocked around by LSU. If it were Clemson that beat LSU, we'd have film of them against an actual team. If it's LSU....they'd be a bit weaker. Playing fraud Oklahoma in the first round was a fucking gift and a half.....and it's one that I don't think they deserved. Did they get it because the committee is too stupid to not fall for the SEC bullshit? Or is it because they didn't want LSU playing Clemson out in Arizona? Either way.....that's bogus.

Because Ryan Day asked for the replay on Garrett Wilson's catch on the first drive, right? Oh that's right. He didn't. He was pissed that they reviewed it. Watch it again. As soon as the booth calls down, he's on camera saying, "Fuck!" Catch or no catch, Clemson was on their heels, and that free time out allowed them to get their feet under them, and also halted Ohio State's momentum.

On the targeting, IN WHICH NO FLAG WAS THROWN ON THE FIELD, Clemson was looking at 4th and 16, with Ohio State having a 16-0 lead and all the momentum. The replay booth didn't like that scenario. The booth also ignored TWO Clemson players holding Chase Young, with one having his hand INSIDE Young's facemask.

On the scoop and score, in which the officials ON THE FIELD correctly called a fumble returned for a touchdown, once again, the replay booth took matters into its own hands.

Olave breaking off his route was the mistake that ultimately was the final straw, but Ohio State KICKED CLEMSON'S ASS ON THE FIELD, yet time and time and time again, were thwarted by the replay booth.

And then there was Dobbins with both hands on the ball, crossing the goal line, and the ball bouncing out as he landed. Idk about you, but in my mind, diving across the goal line counts as a football move. Once again, called a TD on the field, and the replay booth changed the call.

Agree with what you said, except the dobbins no catch comment. It was not a catch. I wish it was, but it was not. Had his hand been under the ball, which it was not, it would have stood. As it was, he did not complete the catch. That the goal line was involved doesnt matter. You still gotta complete the catch.

Don’t forget the obvious targeting call on Clemson missed on the field and by the replay booth....

I'll have to watch it again. I am a little fuzzy on that one.

I never understood how the minute a runner has the ball cross the goal line it’s a TD, but it’s not the same for a receiver who has possession of the ball when they cross the goal line...

Because a runner has established himself with possession of the ball while being within the field of play. It's not a catch here because, while established in the field of play, he had not established possession.

Edit: I suppose, in the interest of a complete answer- the ball is allowed to touch the ground, and possession can still be established if it does, so long as the ball doesnt come loose. On Dobbins' no catch, the ball clearly does come loose, however. It simply was not a catch. I guess it would have been in 2003, their being no replay. But the overturn in 2019 was the correct ruling.

On this one (and please, correct me if I’m wrong,) I haven’t gone back and watched it again since that night but IIRC, Dobbins left the ground before possession. He caught it but didn’t maintain control. Now, had he already had the ball while on the ground, then leapt in to the end zone, as soon as the ball crosses the plane, it’s a TD. I just don’t think that’s what happened here. Although it’s one kick in the dick of many, I believe this one was called correctly.

Edit: Damn it, @Buckeyeskickbuttocks beat me to it.

Holding on to the ball while in the air for 4-5 seconds seems like possession. He wasn’t bobbling the ball. I get it when he hit that the ball moved. It’s also funny in that the ground can’t cause a fumble.

I’m not arguing against the call. I assumed it was coming back. I just don’t agree with what is considered possession in some of these cases.

Michael Jordan didn't have 4 to 5 second hang time, dude. Come on.

The ground can't cause a fumble because the player has established possession of the ball. You have to complete a catch to establish possession. And the goal line makes no difference. Image a ball hitting a player in the hands, beyond the goal line and then falling immediately to the ground, with no additional attempt to secure it. That's not a catch and it would be completely obvious to you it was no catch. It's the same thing. The ball being merely between one's mitts doesn't render it a catch. Nor does it render it a catch in the endzone.

Oh, there have certainly been bad calls. Even on replay. This one, however, wasn't one.
