The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

I had posted something--in the game thread I think--along the lines that as their win over us two years ago did jumped started their program, a loss to us (which as we know happened) would put the brakes on it. Let's if that indeed happens. I could see the Pedsters losing at least one more regular-season game.

It absolutely resurfaced all the questions about Franklin that were percolating before that FG block TD.

He loses another one or two this year and then gets housed in Columbus next year and it's going to get hot for him.

A big chunk of that fan base desperately wants to believe they are on OSU's level and he sold into that.

Interesting question on twitter today.
The general theme was "Former Power programs and their slow rebuild"

Which team is able to get back to 10 wins sooner - Nebraska or Tennessee?

I submitted that it would be Nebraska. My reasons were as follows:

1). Frost is a better coach (at least much more experienced).
2). Easier for him to pull out of talent rich Texas than for Pruitt to pull out of Atlanta
3). B1G West more manageable than SEC East

Am I dead wrong?

I don't think the SEC East and the B1G West are much different from each other. Maybe this year with Wisconsin being a little down, but usually they more or less track - 1 good team (UGA/Wisky), one mediocre team with delusions (Florida/Iowa) and a bunch of meh or simply crap teams. Nebby and Tennessee are in the meh category.

I think all 3 of those are true, but I think Tennessee should be able to at least match Nebraska in overall recruiting. They can pull from the Tidewater area and Florida better than Nebraska can pull from Chicago or California.

But it should be easier for the Huskers to get to second place in the B1G West than it is for the Vols to get to third place in the SEC East. UGA and Wiscy aren't fading anytime soon, and Florida will get to 10 wins b4 Tennessee does.

One real advantage for the Vols trying to get to 10 wins is having 4 non-conferences games instead of 3, allowing one more Chattanooga or Coastal Carolina in the schedule.

Well they have kinda/sorta eff'ed themselves in that area. Future schedules don't include those teams. They include the BYU, Oklahoma, Pitt and (strangely), Nebraska!

They deserve credit for the Oklahoma and Nebraska series. But next year has Ga State, BYU, Chattanooga and UAB, and 2020 has Furman, Charlotte, and a player to be named, which should just be a cupcake getting a paycheck.

Nebraska has Oklahoma twice, Colorado 3 times, and Tennessee, and the conference has forced 5 road B1G games every other year, which reduces the times that cupcakes are available. Nebraska then has Oklahoma again in 29/30, but if neither has reached 10 wins by then they'll have changed coaches at least once!

Regarding 2), the Vols have 8 guys from Georgia currently committed, and I don't see anybody from Texas in Nebraska's list. I think conference realignment has made if tougher for the Huskers to pull from Texas.

Nebraska borders California, apparently.

Calibraska

Look out for those guys!

That guy who "can't work a sledgehammer" also helped your offense win a national title. Is that how you treat one of your beloved former assistants?

Okay yeah, I ALWAYS get a good laugh from that gif! But make no mistake, Tom Herman is a SCARY coach when he's an underdog.
Fuck Tom Herman.

Scoreboard.
