The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

if osu, clemson, and oklahoma go undefeated, no 1-loss sec team will get in over them. substitute an undefeated wisconsin or penn state for osu if it comes to that.

I would have agreed with this in years past, but the propaganda is in full spin mode. Last year showed they will do whatever ESPN wants. A 3rd place team played nobody and lost their way into the Playoff series.

I think the only way 1 SEC team goes is if Bama runs the table and convincingly beats/eliminates everyone along the way, and the other 3 conferences all have undefeated teams.
If LSU goes to the SECCG after handing Bama their only loss... that vote will come down to 1 or 2 people. And, if you've followed this bs, you should already be aware that our advocates aren't allowed in the room at that time.

you must buy your tin foil by the ream if you think a 1-loss sec team will get in over undefeated clemson/osu/ou. heck, if any of those 3 undefeated teams is left out, it will be clemson because their wins will be over a bunch of shit. you talk about about propaganda, but rece davis has osu at #1 per his ap vote. espn has been lavishing osu with praise the last couple weeks.

also, last year, notre dame was the 3-seed in the playoff. they were selected as an undefeated team, not as a team that "lost their way into the playoff series." oklahoma was selected as the 4-seed at least partly because their sole loss wasn't by 29 points to an unranked team. some people seem to forget that.

the only argument osu has about last year is that uga was selected over them at 5th place. who freakin' cares about 5th or 6th place in the playoff poll?

Neither ACC nor Alabama have missed a single Playoff series. In those 5 years, Alabama entered as a 1-loss team 3 times. They've also been 1/2 four of the five years. Both years they were undefeated, they lost in the Playoffs.
There's been all manner of ways people like you have rationalized Alabama getting in every single year... and all of them have also been used to keep a team not named Alabama out.

And yes, last year #4 Georgia lost to #1 Alabama and got jumped by #5 OU... for the exact reason I described. Alabama went undefeated through the SEC and convincingly beat everyone else. Had the SECCG gone the other way, #1 Georgia and #4 Alabama would have kept OU out.
Exactly as I've said... the only way you get 1 SEC team is if Alabama beats everyone.

Sorry you don't like reality, and just need to smear me with "conspiracy theorist".

I think it was during the Nebraska game that Derpstreet said that he, Pollack, Despondent Howard all agreed--without talking to one another--that Ohio State was the best team in the country. The subsequent convincing win over a tehn-ranked Sparty team likely solidified that. If we run the table, beating top-10 Bucky and Pedsters along the way, and win the B1G CCG, we should make the playoffs...if we happen to beat Bucky and Pedsters in dominating fashion while doing so, then we're definitely in.

Agreed on that much.
I think OU is first on the chopping block this year. Doesn't help their AD is one of the voters... he can't be in the room anytime the rest are discussing Oklahoma. Gene Smith is no longer on it... and his presence definitely hurt us in 17 and 18.

If Ohio State wins all their games they are in. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts.

While we're here... let's go over whose on the Committee. Few of whom I think watch more than 4 quarters of CFB a week.
tldr version... this is why the CFP poll is basically a blend of AP, Coaches, and what ESPN tells them to do.

The various ADs:
Chair, Rob Mullens - longtime Oregon AD, previous employment ties to Kentucky
Gary Barta - Iowa AD, born MN, grad NDSU, past employment NIU and Washington
Joe Castiglione - OU AD, born FL, alma mater Maryland and OU, previously worked at Missouri
Terry Mohajir - Ark State AD, alma mater same, born in KS, and former employ with Kansas football
Todd Stansbury - GTech AD, played at GTech, longest prev employ at Or State
Scott Stricklin - UF AD, born MS, alma mater MS State, worked MS St, Auburn, Baylor, Kentucky

... I doubt any of them watch more than 1-2 games a week in their own conference. They have shit to do.
It's also not good to have your own AD in that list.
Notably Florida and Oklahoma.

Football related people:
RC Slocum, born LA, played at McNeese State in 60s, longtime HC and asst at Aggy with brief asst stops at KState and USC
.............. currently interim AD at Aggy ?
Ronnie Lott, born NM ... we all know USC, intermittent tv personality in Fox umbrella
Ken Hatfield, born AR, played Arky in 60s, worked at Tenn, UF, USAF, Arky, Clemson, and longtime Rice HC
Frank Beamer
, born NC, played VTech in 60s, Citadel / Murray St ... and of course VTech for eternity

.... these are the people I suspect watch a few games every week. They're all retired or seem to have ample free time. But, with exception of Ronnie, they're also old as dirt.
I imagine they still mostly watch their old stomping grounds.
Notable that not a single one of them is Big Ten related. ACC, BXII, SEC, and PAC are all rep'd.

Randoms... these people probably don't watch a single game... here for prestige swapping ? Getting some name recognition while lending their name credibility to "the process" ?

General Odierno - born NJ, West Point / NC State / Naval War College. Retired 2015. I suspect he has other things to do... even after retirement, these guys tend to stay busy in the DC thinktank circles... and sure enough he's at JP Morgan and a Charter Airline.

Chris Howard - Pres of Robert Morris U... born PA, USAF Academy / Oxford / Harvard. Played RB at USAFA. He could go in the previous category but as the Pres of a University... seems more fitting here. He surely has other shit to do.

Paola Boivin - alum Illinois, Prof ASU and sports columnist, teaches courses in Sports Reporting and Sports Media, worked for various papers and tv shows around AZ. Could arguably be in the former category too, but as the only woman surrounded by 90yr old David Petersens... and as somebody that may as well be an AP voter... I'm meh. Only person with no Wiki... so I looked at her Twitter, she RTs a lot of other sports... only CFB RTs are about ASU...

ESecPN hack Jessie Palmer puts the Buckeyes at 4 and says I’ll explain why the rest of the top 4 has a better strength of schedule...

wait a minute, what??!?

This fucking idiot is just reading a script but still. Just look at the win/loss record of the 6 opponents played:

Bama 17-19 (.472)
LSU 16-19 (.457)
Clem 15-21 (.416)

LSU beating Texas and Florida (combined 10-3 record) make for the most impressive wins but outside of that, the rest of their schedule (combined 6-16 record) consists mostly of liquid dog shit...
Clem and Bama both beat the mighty sec opponent aTm (3-3) so top two automatically for them. Forget Clemson hasn’t played a team with a winning record and surprisingly Bama scheduling Duke and Southern Miss (combined 8-4 record) make up the meat of their schedule thus far.

Palmer is fucking hack but Espin is a contamination to the CFP.

btw OSU opponents are a combined 23-15 (.605) and only one opponent (2-4 Fredo) has a losing record.
