I liked the old rep system. I miss it. It was kinda cool to conduct a separate conversation via reputation alone. Anyone else feel the same way about it? Is there any way to get it back in the future?

And on a different note, what happened to the GPA? I have not seen any GPA's being awarded once the migration to the new system was complete. Though there were many GPA-worthy posts being made.

I'm with you on all counts, I miss the old days...

GPAs will be back. Just have bigger fish to fry at the moment. The basic architecture is there, just need a delivery mechanism of sorts to identify those posts. Make no mistake, this is an ongoing process. Server work has to be done before the search engine, which has to be done before core upgrades and front end work, which are before the torrents manager, then a gallery and another pending mod, etc. It's a slow process, but we'll get there.

The Like system is the rep system, insofar as old greenies were converted to likes, and likes earn trophy points. If the angle that you miss is the available to make comments with likes -- no, I suppose there are no plans to create something like that as we already have posts, profile posts, and personal conversations.

What do you miss? While there are a few things that are approached differently now (such as rep, and do we all miss the uniform mass of rep icons that went with maxing out?), it seems to me that all we've done is gain features. Not the least of which is proper mobile support.

If anyone has feedback about aspects of the old site they'd like to see in the new one, I can certainly consider those.

CCI is pissed about the change, too. He feels that he earned his rep and that the mods had no right to take it away from him.
NO RIGHT!

There ain't a pumpkin thing I miss.

Unless you're able to install my carefree youth. I'd like that back asap. I'm willing to trade a willful three year old that needs to learn RESPECT FOR HER FATHER!

She's going to be pregnant in middle school, isn't she?

I'm nostalgic for the visual layout more than anything. I'm in no position to complain, you have done a great job.

BP has been my first stop every time I went online for at least nine years, it's almost like when a well known poster changes their avatar.

Not at all, I don't take it as a complaint -- and even if I had, I find a lot of value in the same. I am, and have been, truly interested and concerned about the transition and how folks feel it can still get better. I think it may help a bit when we can roll out a couple more themes; one dark, another very much like our old BP_DayGame. That doesn't address layout, but it will offer some familiarity.

I couldn't disagree more.

I found people would post things in rep comments that they would never post on the forum - a second level of internet balls. The current system is much better. If you like something, you can show it and everyone else can see it. If you don't like it, you don't get to be a closet asshole about it. Post a response or move on.

Change is tough. Tougher still when it's top to bottom and we had a decade on an old platform. Had vb3.8.7 remained viable, we might have stayed on it longer, but we had reached a point where the site was at risk for it. We'll tweak this and get it where we want it, and I'll need feedback just like this to do that.

There are two websites that I care about a lot, that is BP and GameSpot. Both underwent redesign in the past few months. BP has emerged far and away the less buggier of the two, and I am happy about that. But BP is also a smaller site (compared to GS). And GS just changed a couple of weeks ago, and there has been a tremendous amount of subtle, but stupid design decisions. While I might nitpick about certain features that disappeared from BP, I like the fact that the design decisions were sound, and based on logic and practicality. So what I'm trying to say is, keep doing what you guys have been doing! I just love BP.
